Kris (Case study #3) Kris is a 23 year ld white man. He has a number f previus cnvictins, mainly fr theft, and has mst recently been in curt fr pssessin f ccaine. He has tld the prbatin fficer that it is his drug use that lies behind much f his ffending. He says he has stlen t raise mney t buy drugs. He uses many kinds f substances. He has n recrd f being invlved in the supplying r selling f drugs, but he has mentined that pressure is being put upn him by suppliers t whm he wes mney. He wn t g int detail abut this. 16
Kris (Case study #3) He was made redundant frm his jb as an engineer abut 18 mnths ag. Althugh he has sme skills, there are n jbs available in this sectr where the industry is in decline. He lived in rented accmmdatin fr a few years, but had t return t live with his parents when he lst his jb and his incme. His father is elderly and in pr health. His mther is struggling t keep things ging and is very upset by Kris s behaviur. They all agree it wuld be better if he left hme, but he cannt affrd t d s. 17
Kris (Case study #3) Kris feels very pessimistic abut his future. He says he wuld like t wrk with yung peple as a yuth wrker, but he believes that his criminal cnvictins have nw made this impssible. He knws that his drug use is causing prblems and he fears it is getting ut f cntrl, but he says that drugs bring him sme break frm the hard realities f life and that all his mates are users as well. 18
