S Professor & Chairperson Dept. of Library and Information Science Kuvempu University, Shimogga, India Dr. R.H.Walmiki Librarian (I.C) University Library, Kuvempu University, Shimogga, India ABSTRACT Cancer of the uterus is a increasing and one of the dangerous diseases for women. The paper covered cause of cancer of the uterus is unknown; also enlist some factors which seem to increase a woman s risk. Paper particularly concentrated about scientometric on the records indexed in the web of Science database during the period 2006-2016 i.e. for 10 years on Uterus Cancer. The researcher s analysed the research publication that has been published only on Uterus Cancer disease and retrieved 3,197 records. Methodology of this study was downloaded articles from the Web of Science database; the search term used was Uterus Cancer and considered as central keyword of the topic discussed. Each record contains English language abstract with the bibliographic information, e.g. author, name of journal, author address, affiliation, keywords, and cited items etc. the downloaded data was analyzed for source items to find out the research trend. The downloaded data has been stored in MS-Excel files for further analysis. Objectives of the work has been done under the growth of scholarly publications, ranked list of journals, form wise distribution of records, authorship pattern & authors productivity, country-wise productivity, Year wise Distribution of etc. Key words: Uterus Cancer, Causes of Cancer, Citation Analyses, Scientometric, and Collaborative Research http://www.iaeme.com/ijlis/index.asp 57 editor@iaeme.com

INTRODUCTIONS Citation analysis is an indirect to assess the information/source used by various categories of users. Citation analysis is a worthwhile area of research and links of references in one text to another text, with information on where that text can be found. Citation analysis is useful for understanding the subject relationships, authorship pattern, and publication trends and so on. With citation analysis are can evaluate and interpret citations received by Articles, institutions, and other indications of scientific activity. Citation analysis is a major area of Bibliometrics research, which uses various methods of citation analysis to establish relationships between Authors and their work. In this study 3,197 citations appended to Uterus Cancer Articles in Web of Science Collected to ascertain in the authorship patterns along with calculation of degree of collaboration, type of literature, ranking of journals, time Span, and geography, etc. 2. Uterus Cancer The Cancer of the uterus is cancer that begins from abnormal cells in the lining of the uterus (endometrium) or the muscle tissue (myometrium). 3. Risk factors of the Cancer The exact cause of cancer of the uterus is unknown, but some factors seem to increase a woman s risk: being aged over 50 Being postmenopausal Endometrial hyperplasia, a benign condition that occurs when the endometrium grows too thick Never having children or being infertile Starting periods early (before age 12) Reaching menopause late (after age 55) Having high blood pressure (hypertension) Having diabetes Being overweight or obese A family history of ovarian, uterine, breast or bowel cancer Previous ovarian tumours, or polycystic ovary syndrome Taking oestrogen hormone replacement without progesterone previous pelvic radiation for cancer Taking tamoxifen to treat breast cancer. The risk of uterine cancer is usually outweighed by the benefits of treating breast cancer. Many women who have risk factors don t develop cancer of the uterus, and some women who do get cancer have no risk factors. http://www.iaeme.com/ijlis/index.asp 58 editor@iaeme.com

Scientometric Analysis of Articles Contributions To Web of Science on Uterus Cancer According to Charles Patrick Davis The uterus is a hollow organ in females located in the pelvis, commonly called the womb. The uterus functions to support fetal development until birth. 4. TREATMENT OF UTERUS CANCER 1. Treatment options may include one or more of the following: surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy. Treatment depends on the cancer stage with stage IV as the most extensive and usually caused by the most aggressive type of cancer cells. 2. Surgical therapy usually involves removal of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, adjacent lymph nodes, and part of the vagina. 3. Radiation therapy may be by external radiation or by internal radiation (brachytherapy). 4. Chemotherapy usually requires IV administration of drugs designed to kill cancer cells. 5. Hormone therapy (usually progesterone) is used on cancer cells that require another hormone (estrogen) for growth. 5. WHAT IS SCIENTOMETRIC? Scientometric is the study of measuring and analysing science, technology and innovation. In practice, scientometric is often done using bibliometrics which is a measurement of the impact of (scientific) publications. Modern scientometric is mostly based on the work of Derek J. de Solla Price and Eugene Garfield. The latter founded the Institute for Scientific Information which is heavily used for scientometric analysis. Methods of research include qualitative, quantitative and computational approaches. 6. NEED FOR THE STUDY Evaluation is necessary in all aspects of our lives by which one can measure things, activities, and processes. Librarians, researchers and teaching community should enumerate and evaluate the research is trend in their field of interest. The main foci of studies have been on growth of scholarly publications, journal rankings, assessing the influence of top scholarly articles, Collaboration of Authors work, Rank list of Journals, Form-wise, Language-wise, Year-wise contribution of Journals, year-wise distribution of records, Country-wise distribution of records, Major areas of Uterus Cancer (subject-wise distribution) Area-wise Uterus Cancer is one of the important issues of citation analysis. It helps to know the distribution of citation among the sub branches and allied subjects of uterus cancer besides to know the research trend in uterus cancer. Study also helps to decision makers while developing library acquisition and collection. 7. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The objectives of the present study are to: Test the growth of scholarly publications in Uterus Cancer research indexed in Web of Science. Prepare a ranked list of journals published Uterus Cancer research indexed in Web of Science during the year 2006-2016. To examine form wise distribution of records indexed in.
