This involves The Royal London Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children, Basildon & Thurrock Hospitals and Southend General Hospital. I have gained excellent experience in trauma working in London hospital that gave me an exposure to polytrauma patients. It has got an Air Ambulance service that helps in air lifting the polytrauma patients as quickly as possible. As a trauma registrar I often called to help with primary care of severely injured patients and to deal with Orthopaedic injuries. As an ATLS trained surgeon I have gained vast experience in trauma. I have also gained experience in elective Orthopaedics working in District General Hospitals. Joint replacement is the major part in these hospitals. I have gained huge amount of experience in primary and revision joint replacement surgery. As a registrar I am actively involved in all aspects of patient care. I supervise the training of SHO & HOs and teaching of medical students. I organise teaching programmes and participate in all departmental academic activities. I have worked in the Royal London Hospital, Bone and Joint Unit that allowed me to obtain valuable experience in advanced primary and revision joint replacement surgery. I worked as a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Orthopaedics in Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. This is a tertiary referral centre. I have performed primary Paediatric Orthopaedic procedures and gained vast experience in dealing with complex paediatric problems. I found this experience is of immense value. I did Advanced Fellowship in Joint Replacement Surgery. During this I did vast number of primary joint replacements and assisted in complex reconstructive procedures. I also did revision hip and knee surgeries using allografts and reconstructive implants under supervision.
As a locum consultant in a busy District General Hospital I used to provide paediatric orthopaedic services. I was part of revision firm. I did large number of primary and revision joint replacement surgeries. I took part in 1 in 8 trauma rota and supervised juniors in the management of trauma. At the moment I am working as a consultant in SVS teaching hospital. I am actively involved in teaching of medical students. This is a 750 bed acute hospital. I provide elective and trauma services. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Under the guidance of Professor J Rai, I worked on a thesis Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis of the knee and submitted it as partial requirement for the degree of MS Orth from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. During my training involved in research and presented papers in Regional meetings. As a consultant I supervise training and research of Registrars and SHOs. I assisted in the conduct of continuing assessment and final clinical examinations of residents by the professor and other faculty.
In the UK I was actively involved in organising teaching programmes, audit meetings and the teaching of medical students, HOs and SHOs. Basildon hospital is attached UCL Medical School.
