Program Overview The Children s Heart Clinic, in conjunction with Children s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, proudly hosts the 32nd Annual Midwest Pediatric Cardiology Society Scientific Session September 25-26, 2008. This annual event provides a forum to support the presentation and sharing of innovations in technology and improvements in cardiovascular treatment. Program Objectives The objective of the conference is to review and discuss state-of-the-art pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery as practiced at major Midwest medical centers. The topics of discussion will include congenital heart disease, research, and transplantation; cardiac catheterization, intervention, and electrophysiology; cardiovascular surgery; and echocardiography and non-invasive imaging. Following the conference, participants will be able to: define and describe various methods of surgical treatments available for patients with cardiovascular conditions. recognize and discuss the options for adults with congenital heart disease. discuss specific trends utilized in cardiac catheterization for various anomalies, including electrophysiology and device closure. describe clinical utilization of non-invasive imaging in the pediatric cardiology patient. define and describe advances in clinical and research issues related to pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. Call for Abstracts The Midwest Pediatric Cardiology Society cordially invites you to submit an abstract to the 32nd annual meeting of the society. Abstracts may be selected either for oral or poster presentations. All abstracts will be peer reviewed and must be received electronically at amcknight@chc-pa.org or postmarked no later than July 15, 2008. The authors will be notified if their abstract is accepted for an oral or a poster presentation by July 25, 2008. Presenters must also complete a disclosure statement, available online. Please encourage your trainees to submit their work. An award will be presented for the best abstract selected in these categories of presenters: Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows. To obtain an Abstract Submission Form and a Disclosure Statement, visit www.childrensheartclinic.org or www.childrensmn.org/communities/cardiovascular.asp Continuing Education Children s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is accredited by the Minnesota Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
