The strong woman - Helen Keller Edgar Hui, F. 2A Today, I want to talk about a person. She is a woman. She is blind, but her heart can see; she is deaf, but she can listen. She is stronger than all of us, she is---helen Keller. Helen Keller was born on 27th of November 1880 in the USA. All of the family were so happy when she was born. But after 19 months, death was coming to find her but luckily, she didn't die. However, she turned blind and deaf, after that, her character changed suddenly; she was always angry and impatient. She always broke things, used her hand to get food and hit people. When she was 7 years old, she met her teacher, Anne Sullivan and this was the crucial point of her life. Anne Sullivan taught Helen patience and calm. Helen's first word was 'water' and she learnt to have a soft and friendly heart. In 1896, Helen went to the Cambridge School for Young Ladies where she learnt more and more. After that, in 1900, she got in to the Radcliffe College. When Helen was 24, she graduated from Radcliffe College, the first person that was blind and deaf to do so. When Helen was studying, her teacher, Anne Sullivan, wrote the words on Helen's hand. After Helen graduated from Radcliffe College, she became a writer, a lecturer and a teacher. In 1986, on 1st of November, she died in Easton, USA. Helen Keller was a strong woman, she was blind and deaf, but she didn't give up. Finally, she got out from the dark by her own strong will and her teacher-anne Sullivan. Her spirit and vigor is deserving of us to learn. 10

How to Improve Your English Annie Lo, F. 2A Good morning Principal, teachers and students. I am Annie Lo from 2A. Today I would like to talk to you about how you can improve your English skills. Firstly, I think the easiest way is by listening to English speaking shows. Find an interesting TV programme, radio show or even a podcast that you can listen to both at home and on the go. Spend as much of your down time as possible listening to spoken English. Hearing the spoken word will help you improve your vocabulary, learn better sentence structure and make learning the correct pronunciation of difficult words even easier. Starting a blog is also a good way to improve your English skills. It can help you to learn commonly used abbreviations such as 'ps' means post script or 'ASAP' is short for As Soon As Possible. Also, you can use your hobbies or field of study to help you learn more English phrases. Try to write a regular blog about subjects related to your life. Even if you are just summarizing articles into English, you will quickly become familiar with the English translations of words that you are already know in your native language. Thank you all for listening and good luck! 11

Katie Leung, Kerry Yam, F.2B You are Chris Wong. You were caught bullying a classmate in the school toilet. The principal is meeting with you. You must try to persuade him not to expel you. Principal: I am sorry, Chris. But I have to expel you. Chris: You shouldn t expel me! Principal: Why not? Chris: My dad donated one million to your school. Principal: So what? Without your dad s donation, this school can still go on. Chris: I was the winner of the swimming competition. If you expel me, your school cannot win. Principal: I can train other students! Chris: I am the leader of Moody. If you expel me, Moody House can t continue. Principal: So I can appoint another student to be the chairperson. Chris: I always come first in exam. If you don t expel me, I can teach other classmates. Principal: Okay! You have lots of strengths, so I won t expel you but you can t bully others anymore. 12
