ACS is the largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds in the United States, second only to the federal government in total dollars spent. In the last year, the ACS aarded over $8.0 million in ne and on-going grants to local cancer researchers from Fred Hutchinson, Group Health, Seattle Children s and the University of Washington. Since the beginning of the ACS cancer research grants, the American Cancer Society has donated over $39 million to the University of Washington and $25 million to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
