A Message from the Chairman It gives me great pleasure to welcome you at the 1 st Annual Middle East Voice and Laryngology Symposium that is held jointly by the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical Center and the American College of Surgeons - Lebanon Chapter. This scientific activity is held in joint sponsorship with the Cleveland Clinic, and in collaboration with the Lebanese Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the Lebanese Speech Therapists Association (ALO) Chapter. In a dynamic world where competitive forces challenge our daily medical care for the dysphonic patient, we find ourselves compelled to provide a new multidisciplinary platform for the diagnosis and management of voice disorders and for the care of the professional voice. With these objectives in mind, the 1 st Middle East Voice and Laryngology Symposium showcases the most recent advances in the work-up of patients with voice disorders and introduces state-of-the-art medical and surgical updates in the treatment of diseases of the larynx. This meeting will feature multidisciplinary sessions and workshops tailored to the needs of a wide range of care providers in the field of voice and laryngology, in an attempt to stimulate regenerative thinking among various medical disciplines and mitigate existing disparities. The organizing and scientific committee will be following the tradition of excellence at the Medical Center, providing a new horizon in the approach and care of the disabled voice, enhancing its value as a tool of communication and a means of expression to human kind. General Information

Program Overview As the first symposium of its kind in the region, the Middle East Voice and Laryngology Symposium will cover topics related to voice and laryngeal disorders, advances in phonomicrosurgery and laser laryngeal surgery. It is a two-day program organized by the Medical Center, the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department and the American College of Surgeons - Lebanon Chapter, in joint sponsorship with Cleveland Clinic,in collaboration with the Lebanese Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and the Lebanese Speech Therapists Association (ALO) Chapter. The symposium will feature distinguished and renowned local and international speakers in the field of voice and laryngology. Objectives Arrange a platform for interdisciplinary interaction in the management of patients with voice problems Relate the most recent diagnostic tools used in the work-up of voice disorders Highlight advances in phonomicrosurgery for the treatment of benign lesions of the vocal folds Discuss advances in thyroid surgery and the management of the paralyzed vocal fold Define the role of laser in the management of laryngeal cancer Reflect on the care of the professional voice Target Audience This annual scientific meeting has been designed for physicians with special interest in voice disorders, including, but not limited to, otolaryngologists, speech language pathologists, general practitioners, and family medicine and ENT surgeons. Accreditation Statement This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education and the Medical Center. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 11 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
