High Risk Emergency San Francisco High Risk Emergency San Francisco is a course designed to address those topics that, due to the risk of misdiagnosis or misadventure, produce the greatest anxiety and concern in the daily practice of emergency medicine. Offered by the Department of Emergency at the University of California, San Francisco, nationally renowned for emergency medical and trauma care, this conference will meet the needs of the practitioner who encounters a high risk condition in their daily medical practice. This includes practicing emergency physicians as well as internists, family practitioners, and others who practice in an urgent care, high risk, or emergency department setting. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this conference are to improve competence and performance in diagnosis, application of current treatment recommendations, and patient counseling for: Acute coronary syndrome and cardiac arrhythmias Penetrating neck and abdominal trauma Resuscitation of critically injured trauma patients Procedural sedation in adults and children Trauma in pregnancy and the elderly Protecting the kidneys from contrast and reversing medications that cause bleeding Soft tissue eye emergencies Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and evaluation of the lungs and heart Emergency procedures Dizzyness, stroke and patients with agitation Pediatric fever, respiratory difficulty, abdominal pain, head trauma, procedural sedation and orthopedic emergencies Dental emergencies Antibiotic usage Patients who have had liver transplant or bariatric surgery.
