UCLA Tobacco-Free Policy Research Exceptions: Use of Tobacco Products research only with review and written approval by the IRB PIs need to specify the location(s) of tobacco use PIs should consider any potential environmental health and safety issues (e.g. secondhand exposure of researchers, staff and bystanders)
Regents Policy 2309 Adopted in 2007 Still in effect (formerly RE 89) Directs each campus to put in place a process for ensuring prior review of all requests for research support from Tobacco Industry funders
Regents Policy 2309 (formerly RE 89) Defines Tobacco Industry to mean any company whose primary business is the manufacture and sale of tobacco products, or any agency that is substantially controlled or acting on behalf of a tobacco company Tobacco Products as defined in 2014 UC Policy on Smoke and Tobacco Free Environment now also applicable to Regents Policy 2309
