FBLA Jeopardy and BOSS Fundamentals Rules and Procedures FBLA Jeopardy Explanation FBLA Jeopardy is the Program of Work meant to create a roadmap for chapter success. Chapters collect money or points by completing different tiles and submitting evidence. Tile values range from $100 to $500; the more money the tile is worth, the more difficult the activity. Tiles can be completed at any time before the February 23 deadline. Exceptions include Fall Leadership Conference and Attend Region Competition. Those activities can only be completed on the day of the conference/competition. Utah FBLA is excited to announce that the chapter which earns the most money will receive the FBLA Program of Work Traveling Trophy and a $100 cash prize for their chapter awarded at the State Leadership Conference. In the event of a tie, the chapters tieing for first place will be asked to give a Jeopardy presentation to the FBLA Board of Directors at the State Leadership Conference. The Board will declare the winner. Chapters completing ALL tiles on the board will be awarded special Utah FBLA lanyards to be worn at the State Leadership Conference. We hope you will take the time to participate in the activities outlined in the FBLA Jeopardy program as we firmly believe they are critical to chapter success. FBLA Jeopardy Deadline to Submit: February 23 at 5 p.m. BOSS Fundamentals Explanation BOSS Fundamentals is a sister program to FBLA Jeopardy. The purpose of BOSS is to encourage the use of FBLA Jeopardy, help chapters choose activities that are most beneficial to their members, connect Utah FBLA chapters and members; and, most importantly, prepare members for college and professional careers. The six categories correspond to a month in the year: the first column is for September and the last is for February. Each month has a theme that focuses on a different aspect of leadership. To receive BOSS credit, chapters must complete two tiles during the month indicated on the board and submit evidence by the 10th of the following month. For example, chapters that complete two of the tiles in the September Starting Your

Success column, such as Chapter Registration and Recruitment Rally, and submit the properties by October 10th, will receive BOSS credit for the month of September. One exception is February 12-16 (FBLA-PBL Week), which serves as a catch-up opportunity. Chapters may complete and submit any tile (except Fall Leadership Conference, Chapter Connection, Attend Region Competition, and Local Chapter Annual Business Report) during FBLA- PBL Week and have it count for BOSS credit during the month it s listed. By participating in BOSS your chapter can qualify for awards at the Utah FBLA State Leadership Conference. Chapters completing three to four (3-4) months of BOSS earn I m a Boss ribbons, and chapters completing the five (5) main months (September through January) will receive certificates, ribbons, and onstage recognition during the opening session at the State Leadership Conference. BOSS Deadline to Submit: the 10th of the month following the completed activity February 23 at 5 p.m. for activities completed during FBLA-PBL Week The Jeopardy Brizz Swizz The Jeopardy Brizz Swizz is an addition to FBLA Jeopardy this year. Two separate Jeopardy Brizz Swizzes will be revealed this year by assistant state director, Ms. Brizzee. Chapters will have two weeks to complete each Jeopardy Brizz Swizz to earn the extra 275 points per Brizz Swizz. The first Jeopardy Brizz Swizz will occur October 23-November 3; the second Jeopardy Brizz Swizz will be randomly determined in one of the later months. Chapters will have no longer than two weeks to complete each Jeopardy Brizz Swizz, and the Jeopardy Brizz Swizz must be submitted to Ms. Brizzee (Email: lbrizzee@utahpbl.com) by 5 p.m. on the last day of the two weeks. (The first Jeopardy Brizz Swizz will be due on November 3 by 5 p.m.) Tie-Breaker The FBLA Jeopardy tie breaker will be determined differently this year. Each chapter involved in the FBLA Jeopardy tie will give a presentation (7-minute max.) to the FBLA-PBL Board of Directors (at the SLC) on their chapter s Jeopardy activities. One to three representatives Page 2

from each chapter involved will be expected to give the presentation. Visual aids, both digital and physical, may be used.
