VCCC Research & Educatin Lead VCCC Research and Educatin Lead fr VCCC Visin The Victrian Cmprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) will save lives thrugh the integratin f cancer research, educatin and clinical care. Thrugh innvatin and cllabratin, the VCCC partners, in cnjunctin with thers, will drive the next generatin f imprvements in the preventin, detectin and treatment f cancer. Cntext The VCCC alliance (the alliance) f seven tertiary hspitals, tw medical research institutes and Australia s tp-ranking university cmplements existing excellence in research and care by fstering and enabling cllabratin and crdinatin. Thrugh seeding innvative prgrams f wrk that enhance integratin f research and educatin int clinical care, VCCC strives t substantially imprve care and utcmes fr patients with cancer. Operatinally, this is largely achieved under the VCCC Strategic Research Plan 2017-2020 (SRP). The SRP, underpinned by a majr investment frm the Victrian gvernment and direct supprt frm the alliance, utlines 19 interlinked prgrams f wrk fcussed n enhancing cancer research capability and capacity, accelerating research translatin and expanding clinical trial activity and participatin by cancer patients. These prgrams have been c-designed with all VCCC alliance partners t leverage their wrk and critical mass t harness the pwer f cllective effrt and impact. Overview This dcument utlines the requirements f the VCCC Research and Educatin Lead in the field f (R&E Lead). Strategically, the R&E Lead will be expected t empwer and enable cllabratin acrss the VCCC alliance in their field t supprt the integratin f research, educatin and clinical care. Key bjectives f the R&E Lead prgram are t: build leadership and netwrks fr tumur streams and selected crss-cutting cancer themes acrss the VCCC, and implement research and educatin initiatives identified under the prgram. In terms f time cmmitment, the R&E Lead is supprted thrugh funding f a 0.2 full time equivalent (FTE), inclusive f any supprt csts, usually spread ver a number f years. The rle will als be supprted thrugh the shared resurce f a VCCC Prgram Manager t assist with planning, delivery f activities, dcumentatin and ther supprt. The R&E Lead will remain emplyed by their hst institutin but will dedicate their time allcatin under the directin f the VCCC Executive Directr. The R & E Lead Prgram bradly fllws the fllwing three phases: Phase I: Develpment f an evidence-base t infrm and supprt cllective planning thrugh a mapping exercise and engagement with relevant healthcare prfessinals, researchers, educatrs and cnsumers acrss all partner sites. Phase II: Develpment f an agreed, strategic VCCC-wide directin fr the tumur stream r cancer theme, with a fcus n creating new netwrks and ther ways t enable transfer f knwledge. Phase III: Disseminatin f knwledge and evidence and implementatin f activities t integrate research, educatin and clinical care and facilitate practice change acrss the VCCC. Embedding internatinal and lcal research and evidence int clinical practice. Identifying pprtunities and bstacles t the expansin f high impact research fr the tumur stream r cancer theme in the VCCC. Prmting multi-site, multi-disciplinary, cllabrative research that crrelates with research excellence and impact. Supprting the develpment and harmnisatin f pstgraduate educatin and training activities that underpin excellence in clinical care and research in cllabratin with ther researchers and educatrs. Increasing the use f integrated research and clinical data acrss VCCC partners. Enabling multi-site clinical trials. Meeting regularly with the assigned Prgram Manager t ensure the crdinatin f effrt. With the supprt f the Prgram manager, prvide a 6-mnth interim prgress reprt fr utlining prgress-t-date against the Operatinal Effectiveness Areas dcumented in this Agreement. The reprt shuld include key activities and utputs, cllabratins, highlights and issues, budget, and planned future activity. One mnth prir t the cnclusin f this Agreement and with the supprt f the Prgram Manager, prvide a reprt which will dcument activities undertaken during the curse f this Agreement, including an understanding f: - The key needs and pririties identified fr the Breast Cancer tumur stream - Activities undertaken t identify and develp prgrams f wrk aimed at addressing identified pririty areas including cmment n: engagement f ptential cllabratrs; Victrian Cmprehensive Cancer Centre Funding Agreement Page 4 f 6

The R&E Lead may be required t assist with the revisin r amendment f reprts, as reasnably requested.
