Specialty Amines and Surfactants for Coatings & Inks Huntsman SURFONAMINE specialty amines are used as pigment modifiers and chemical intermediates for synthesis. SURFONAMINE specialty amines are primary amines attached to a polyether backbone that contains propylene oxide (PO), ethylene oxide (EO), or mixture of both. The ratio of EO to PO in the backbone determines the relative hydrophilicity (the L-Series) or hydrophobicity (the B-Series) of the SURFONAMINE surfactant amine. D-Series and T-Series SURFONAMINE specialty amines offer di-functionality and tri-functionality in terms of the primary amine groups available for reaction, and are used where branching or crosslinking is desired. ED- and EDR-Series SURFONAMINE diamines are based on PEG backbones that offer enhanced hydrophilic properties.
