1 Local Action Plan -2019 SOUTH WEST Background The south west area covers Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bristol and Bath Map As of 31 st December 2016 there were around 270 people known to be living with MND, five MND Association branches, five MND Association groups, a MND Association care centre and MND Care Network in the area. The number in the population is around five million. Overall the region is relatively affluent but there are marked areas of deprivation, dense urban population and rural isolation. This plan was developed following: discussions with regional staff and key stakeholders (branches, groups and NHS/social care colleagues) Analysis of information both internal within the Association and external It considers how well services currently match up to the strategic goals of the Association, and identifies a number of priorities for action from 1 January to 31 December 2019. Provide training and development opportunities for HSCPs according to local needs and priorities Support the Peninsula Care Network team to plan and deliver a study day for HSCPs annually Support the Bristol MND Care Centre team to plan and deliver a study day for HSCPs annually.
