Department of cardiology mission statement To provide the highest quality cardiac care to our patients that matches or exceeds the standards set by the best hospitals in the world. Department highlights 1. Department believes in team work, and our cardiac team is a good mix of youth and experience. 2. Department has one of the most successful Primary angioplasty program in the country. Primary angioplasty (opening the occluded heart arteries with a balloon) is accepted world wide as the best treatment for heart attack victims. During the preceding year, we are probably the only center in India to have offered this service to almost every patient (99%) with acute heart attack who presented to us irrespective of the time of the day. We offer this service expeditiously, and our average Door to Balloon time (the time taken to open the blocked heart artery from the minute patient enters the emergency room) is less than 60 minutes. This is better than some of the top US hospitals. Mayo Clinic reported an average Door to Balloon time of 64 minutes in 2008. 3. Department takes pride in achieving best immediate and long term results for all cardiac interventions. For the year 2008-2009 our results for Angioplasty compares favorably to those of Cleveland Clinic, which is regarded as the best hospital for cardiac care in the United States of America. We take high risk and complex patients. Department strives at near zero complication rates. 4. We value ethics in medical practice highly and keep patient outcome as our number one priority in our medical decision making.
