What is ArcEquine? ArcEquine is a drug free, non-invasive sub-sensory treatment device, which uses microcurrent technology. What can it do for your horse? ArcEquine facilitates the rapid repair of tissues, including tendons, ligaments, bone fractures and wounds. Promotes effective dispersal and elimination of swelling, bruising, inflammation, pain and lactic acid. ArcEquine is equally as effective for prevention and maintenance as it is for restoration. How does it work? When there is tissue damage and inflammation, the electrical resistance increases in that area, which affects normal cellular activity. Microcurrent technology utilises currents measured in millionths of an amp (microamps) that can dramatically increase ATP (energy) production in the cells of your horse and this significantly speeds up the tissue s healing rate, often with little or no scar tissue. 1

What s in the box 1 x Delivery Unit Consumable items 1 x Plug charger 1 x User manual 1 x Leg strap with press studs 2 x Carbon rubber ArcPads 1 x Conductive gel (250ml) The leg strap and carbon rubber ArcPads have been specifically designed for durability, comfort and connectivity. The carbon rubber ArcPads are fixed to the leg strap with press studs. Remove the carbon rubber ArcPads and wipe clean with warm water after each use. The leg strap can be lightly brushed after each use but should not come into contact with water. The conductive gel has been specifically formulated for use with ArcEquine. The contents comply with all equine and veterinary regulations and requirements. Use of gel enables electrical connectivity from the carbon rubber ArcPads, through the hair, to the skin of the horse. Guarantee ArcEquine offers a 2 year guarantee from the date of your purchase of the ArcEquine Delivery Unit. Charging the Delivery Unit (Only use the plug charger supplied.) Insert the lead of the charger into the base of the Unit, then plug the charger into a wall socket and switch on. When the wall socket is switched on you will hear two short beeps and the left-hand button will indicate: Red: still charging Amber: nearly charged Green: fully charged and ready for use After 30 seconds the button will begin to flash and will continue to do so until the Unit is fully charged. When the left-hand button has turned green your Unit is fully charged. The green light will remain on for 15 minutes and will then turn off. When the light is green or when there are no lights showing, the Unit can be unplugged. When your Unit is unplugged you will hear a beep. A full charge takes approximately 4.5 hours. A full charge will enable approximately 35 hours of treatment delivery. Note: The Unit is supplied with the Audible Beep Alert on. If you require this function turned off, go to page 5 3

Quick start guide 1 Make sure your Delivery Unit is fully charged (Page 3) 2 Attach carbon rubber ArcPads to leg strap using press studs 3 Secure and connect Unit to leg strap using elasticated bands (Page 11) 4 Turn the Unit on (Page 5) 5 Select desired Treatment Option (Page 6) 6 Activate Treatment Option (Page 8) 7 Add a small amount of gel onto each carbon rubber ArcPad 8 Attach the leg strap to the leg, ensuring the spine of the strap, with the Unit runs vertically along the side of the cannon bone (Page 11) 9 Check for successful connectivity (Page 8) 10 Do not over tighten the elasticated velco straps 11 To protect the Unit we advise that you loosely cover with a stable bandage or boot Actions 1 to 7 can be completed before entering the stable/approaching the horse Note: See page 13 for further information. 4

Treatment Option indicators LEDs 1 4 How to turn the Unit on Press and hold the left-hand button for four seconds, you will then hear a high pitched beep and the button will light either green or red along with one LED light. Green: Indicates the Unit is fully charged and ready to use. Red: Indicates Unit needs charging. How to turn the Unit off Press and hold the left-hand button. After two seconds you will hear a confirmation beep. The light within the button will then turn off as will the LED. Turning Audible Beep Alert on and off l Ensure the Unit is turned on l Press and hold both buttons at the same time l After three seconds you will hear three short beeps High-High-High = Audible Beep Alert enabled High-High-Low = Audible Beep Alert disabled 5

Guide to Treatment Options Each Option lasts 3 hours and should be repeated daily throughout the course of the treatment. Please note, no two horses respond at the same rate, therefore timings shown serve only as a guide. After completion of any Protocol it may be necessary to reassess and repeat, in part or whole. The number of Phases can be increased, but should not be decreased. Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4 Question 1: Does your horse have an injury or tissue damage of any description? If the answer is Yes Treatment Protocol: Phase 1 1 week Treatment Option 1 (or until sound at walk, whichever is the longer) Phase 2 2 weeks Treatment Option 2 Phase 3 3 weeks Treatment Option 3 Complete the Protocol in conjunction with a dynamic and progressive rehabilitation regime (template as at pages 9 and 10) Together they address both the physical and the psychological aspects required for tissue repair. 6

Question 2: Is your horse suffering from any of the following: a) any pain; or b) any psychological trauma (anxiety); or c) an imbalance of any description; or d) any undiagnosed problem (after full veterinary examination) If the answer is Yes Treatment Protocol: Phase 1 3 weeks Treatment Option 1 Then re-assess and repeat, as necessary. Use of ArcEquine is just as effective at Prevention and Maintenance as it is at Restoration. If the answer is No to either of the questions please follow Prevention/Maintenance without rehabilitation. Prevention/Maintenance Having first completed the Treatment Protocol as in Question 1 (page 6), revert to: Treatment Option 4 every 4th weekend (2 days) or other similar, regular routine to suit, provided that the intervals are no more than 4 weeks. Use also in conjunction with competition: On journey to: Treatment Option 1 (to maintain calmness) Immediately after each element/round: Treatment Option 1 (to rapidly eliminate lactic acid. 3-45 minutes is sufficient) On journey home: Treatment Option 2 (lactic acid/deal with micro tissue tears) 7

Selecting Treatment Option First choose the Treatment Option you wish to deliver (see guide on page 7). If you are not treating a specific condition but using ArcEquine as part of a prevention/ maintenance regime, we recommend that you first go through the Treatment Protocol as detailed in Question 1 (page 6). Programming the Unit At the top of the Unit there are four Treatment Option indicator LEDs. To select your Treatment Option, press the left-hand button, and cycle through the LED s until the chosen Treatment Option is illuminated. As the Treatment Option is selected you will hear a sequence of short, sharp beeps. The number of beeps indicates the Treatment Option selected. For example; three beeps = Option 3. If the Unit has already been used, the red LED will indicate the last Treatment Option delivered. Activating the Option Once the desired Treatment Option has been selected: A. Press the right-hand button once. There will be an audible beep and the Unit will begin delivery of a 3 hour Treatment Option (recommended Treatment for horses). B. Press AND HOLD the right-hand button until there is a long audible beep. This will begin delivery of a 7 hour Treatment Option. Once activated, the left-hand button will turn off and the right-hand button and Option indicator will turn either: Green: To indicate complete connectivity Red: To indicate no connectivity at one or more of the carbon rubber ArcPads After 30 seconds the right-hand button will turn off and the Option indicator LED will begin to flash and continue to do so throughout the delivery period. 8

It has been found that the effectiveness of Microcurrent technology is enhanced the earlier it is introduced, alongside a progressive and dynamic rehabilitation regime, especially where there is tissue damage. It is recommended that this regime starts from the beginning of Phase 2 of the Treatment Protocol. Rehabilitation Template: Straight lines only On a good, firm surface No circles, poles, lunging, etc No pinching or squeezing of any tendon, ligament, etc No testing (flexion, etc) 9

Phase 1 No work Box rest Plenty of TLC Phase 2 Turn out your horse as much as possible Begin walking in hand for 15 minutes each day Increase by 5 minutes every 4th day until up to 30 minutes each day Continue 30 minutes each day for a total of 8 days Begin walking under saddle, for 15 minutes each day Increase by 5 minutes every 4th day until up to 30 minutes each day Continue 30 minutes each day for a total of 8 days Back to walking under saddle for 15 minutes each day. Introduce a little trot Increase total time by 5 minutes every 4th day (and the trot pro rata) until up to 30 minutes per day Continue 30 minutes each day for a total of 8 days. Then re-scan 10

Leg strap and Unit in position l Attach strap with the Unit positioned to the outside of the cannon bone l Do not strap to an injured leg l Do not over tighten l Rotate leg strap between sound legs each day 11

Troubleshooting If the Option indicator has changed from green to red during the treatment and: The right-hand button has lit up red This indicates a loss of connectivity. Either the lead has become disconnected or one, or both, of the carbon rubber ArcPads are not making a good enough connection to the skin to complete the circuit. The left-hand button has lit up red This indicates that there is insufficient power in the battery to complete delivery of the selected treatment. Should you require any assistance, contact: support@arc-family.com Important information l Protect your ArcEquine Delivery Unit and leg strap from wet and damp conditions. It is not waterproof l The use of microcurrent technology can cause some dehydration. Please ensure your horse always has access to clean fresh water when using the ArcEquine Unit l Use of ArcEquine is in addition to, and in no way a substitute for your existing veterinary policy and practice l A pdf of this manual along with further information is available on our website: www.arc-family.com l Your ArcEquine Delivery Unit is guaranteed for 2 years from the date of purchase. Please note failure to use genuine ArcEquine consumables will invalidate any guarantees 12

Please note: Some horses with thin/very fair skin may, after prolonged use, develop a sensitivity reaction, manifesting in a 'rub' type condition and even some loss of hair. In order to prevent this in any animal we make the following recommendations: 1. Do not use every day for more than 6 weeks. Thereafter revert to the maintenance programme 2. Do not overtighten the elasticated velcro straps. The carbon rubber ArcPads, plus gel are extremely sensitive so no pressure is required to maintain a good contact 3. Do not use for more than 3 hours in any single session 4. Remove the leg strap after every 3 hours of use 5. Do not use overnight 6. Do not use such that the leg strap/bandage covers any injury 7. Rotate the leg strap between sound legs each day Disclaimers Users are responsible for full reading and understanding of this user manual, and correct and complete application of the equipment manual instructions. ArcEquine is only for use specifically as directed on horses. 13
