HEALTH OF A NATION 18 MILLION AMERICANS HAVE TYPE 2 DIABETES. MORE THAN 50% OF THE COUNTRY IS OBESE. HEART DISEASE IS THE #1 CAUSE OF DEATH FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. 1 IN 3 ADULTS HAS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. NATURALLY NUTRIENT-RICH FOODS FIRST The explosive growth in diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure is directly related to high-fat, empty-calorie diets and sedentary lifestyles. Both the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and USDA s MyPyramid urge Americans to choose foods that are naturally nutrient rich to combat this growing problem. Nutrient-rich cheddar PROVIDES many VITAMINS AND MINERALS FOR RELATIVELY FEW CALORIES.

Can Cheese be a Choice? Yes! Cheese provides an easy-to-eat package of nutrition. People with heart disease, diabetes or those looking to cut calories can enjoy a wide variety of reduced fat cheeses with the same nutritional benefits for fewer calories and less fat. The diabetic s cheese choice 1½ ounces of reduced fat cheddar makes a lowcarbohydrate, protein-rich snack. Since Cabot cheddar is lower in salt than many other brands, it s an ideal snack choice for any diabetic meal plan.

Winning the Weight-Loss Battle Scientists continue to explore the relationship between dairy foods and a healthy weight. Numerous studies indicate that people who eat more dairy foods tend to weigh less than people who eat fewer dairy foods. To lose weight you need to cut calories, exercise more and eat naturally nutrientrich foods. Choosing 3-a-day of dairy through reduced fat dairy foods naturally provides your body calcium, protein, and a number of other nutrients plus, it cuts calories in the process. REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE, NATURALLY The National Institutes of Health recommend the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) Diet as a way to reduce blood pressure. The diet relies on eating 9 servings of fruits/vegetables and 3 low-fat dairy servings each day.

F or generations, New Englanders have enjoyed the cheese produced by their neighbors at Cabot, a farmer-owned cooperative. Now the cheddar made famous in Vermont and honored throughout the world is available in your neighborhood.
