Report of NSS Activities 2011-12 During the academic year 2011-12 the NSS unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University s, Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development, Pune carried out various activities for the students as well as for society benefits. A brief report of the same as below: Inauguration and Orientation of volunteers: Inauguration function was held at seminar hall of IMED with auspicious hands of our Hon ble Dean & Director Dr. Nitin Nayak and in presence of Dr. Prasad, Dr. Mahesh Shitole, all faculty members and NSS Volunteers on 5 th Aug.2011 NSS Volunteers Regular Activity Report:- 1) Sukun An effort To Help the Helpless NSS volunteers were visited corporation school at Dattawari. Volunteers were conducted 5 sessions there regarding utilization of computers in daily routine and their benefits to society. In the first three sessions, students give them a brief introduction as well as practical uses of computer. In forth session, they were conducted a class on health awareness and in last last session they organized Quiz, Extempore and Cultural activities. Volunteers distributed pen, pencil, biscuits and toffees to the participants as a token of love. 2) Spandan The bits for Orphans The Second team of NSS Volunteers was Visited Niradhar Aashram,near Bhilarewadi a slum area inside Pune city which was handling by Janseva Foundation. Students conduct different sessions in Niradhar Aashram. Volunteers were communicating with orphan children s regarding their livings and problems they are faced in the past and volunteers made friendly relationships with the orphans. Second session was conducted on the Role and Importance of education in daily life also discussed practical uses of computer in education. In final session, volunteers were

organized Painting competition, Quiz and Cultural activities. Volunteers distributed sweets as well as food on day of Rakshabandhan to the participants and all other children s in aashram. 3) PARIJAT Educate to uneducated. An initiative taken by the NSS students of BBA & BCA focusing on the slum development & the problems faced by the slum students from Bavdhan, Balewadi and khothrud area. Volunteers conduct various cleanliness drives, awareness drives for the women, basic education initiatives for children and for motivating them, different games and competitions were arranged. 4) Blood Donation Camp Our institute organizes the blood donation camp on 16 th Sept 2011.NSS volunteers participate in blood donation camp enthusiastically along with the Rotaract club members to motivates the donors and taking care of the donors after blood donation. About 227 students, Faculties donate blood during this camp. 5) Paper bag Workshop:- On 18 th Feb, We were organized paper bag making workshop for the NSS Volunteers. Around 150 bags were made, which will be use instead of plastic bag. Students made these bags for them self and for shopping purpose. Workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. Shivali Ingawale and student coordinators Mrs. Smita Patil (MBA), Mrs. Priyanka kadam(bca). Institute Director Dr. Nitin Nayak appreciates it and distribute prizes to everyone who participated in this workshop. Also the university NSS coordinator Prof. K.V. Mohite visited workshop and appreciates the work of organizers. 6) Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti:- Date: - 19 th Feb 2012 On the occasion of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti 50 students along with faculty visited Sinhagad fort at morning 2.00 am for Mashal Doud. Mashal Doud was started from Sinhagad Fort & finished at IMED College, Pune. Institute Director Dr. Nitin Nayak and Dr. Mahesh Shitole was honored the Maratha Warrior with a garland of flowers in the institute.

Faculties and students were present during that ceremony. And the next day was celebrated as a Traditional day in the institute. Participation of Programme officer and Volunteers :- Prof. Vijay Phalke participated as a team leader in All India Inter-University National Integration Youth camp organized by Foundation for Amity & National Solidarity (FANS) at World Peace Centre of MAEER s MIT, Pune (Maharashtra) from 24 th to 27 th Dec 2011. Mr. Shirikant Taware, (MBA G) participated as a volunteers in All India Inter- University National Integration Youth camp organized by Foundation for Amity & National Solidarity (FANS) at World Peace Centre of MAEER s MIT, Pune (Maharashtra) from 24 th to 27 th Dec 2011. From our institute three NSS Volunteers Mr. Sunil Gaikwad, Mr. Chandrajeet Kumar, Mr. Rahul Gore participated for NSS State Level Camp organized at Gojubavi, Tal.:- Baramati, Dist.:- Pune. In that camp our university s team was own Best Performing Team award. Mr. Bharatbhan Singh Sisodia, Mrs. Saumya Agrawal (BBA II yr.), NSS volunteers participated in State level Leadership Seminar Organized by BVDU s, College of Architecture, Pune. Special Winter Camp The special winter camp of 28 Volunteers was held at Urali-kanchan, Tal.- Maval, Dist.- Pune during the period 16 th mar to 22 nd mar.2012. Inaugural Programme:- Inauguration was held on 16 th Mar.2012, 4.00 pm in the presence of Shri. Dattatray Kanchan, (Sarpanch Urali), Shri.B.R.Gavade (Gramsevak), Shri. Shakti Tupe, Grampanchayat members and Dr. Mahesh Shitole (Director-UG), Prof. Vijay Phalke (NSS Prog.Officer) accompanied with the faculty members Prof. Sachin Ayrekar, Prof. Promod Kadam, Prof. Shivraj Thorat and Adm. Officer Shri. M.P. Thorat sir along with supporting staff. The following activities were conducted at the camp: Exercise and Self Defense Training: - Everyday early morning all volunteers were participated for exercise and self defense training, was conducted by Mr. Shakti Tupe, which helps volunteers for positive thinking, tense relies, freshness and self defense. Cleanliness Drive: - To get the support and cooperation from the villagers volunteers cleanup the temples like Shri. Bhayravnath mandir, Shri. Hanuman mandir, Shri. Shankar bholenath mandir etc. From that work they earn the confidence & support of the villagers. Shramdan: - According to the Scheduled plan of camp volunteers started work in various groups. Shramdan was conducted at Jijau Hall area, Mandai area and Aashram Road. NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated to clean the area and guided to the people for minimize the use of plastic bags. Tree Plantation: - NSS volunteers participated in the Tree Plantation at ward number 2 and aashram road near about 150 plants planted by the students. Volunteers took promise from the colony members for taking care of plants in summer season also. Visit to Deaf School & Aanath Aashram:- All the NSS volunteers were visited to Deaf & Dumb School and distribute fruits and sweets to the students. By considering interest of the children s cultural activities took place during that visit. After that Volunteers visit Z. P. School and arrange different competition for the school children s and try to create their interest towards school and study.

Dattatray Kanchan, (Sarpanch, Urali) was the chief guest Dr. Nitin Nayak, Director IMED, Pune welcome the chief guest. The Report of the Special winter camp was read by Vol. Shrikant Taware, it was followed by felicitation of chief guest and other present dignitaries. In his valedictory address to the gathering Shri. B. R. Gavade (Gramsevak) emphasized the importance of sensitizing the youth to the needs of the society and to address the gaps in providing various social benefits and schemes toward the upliftment of the underprivileged section of the society. NSS program officer glorify the efforts of the NSS volunteers and urged them to continue their efforts towards the accomplishment of NSS motto Not me but You. Vol. Vaibhavraj pawar has given vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and special thanks to Shri. B.R.Gawade, (Gramvikas Adhikari,Urali-kanchan), Shri. Shakti Tupe,Shri. Shailesh gaikwad and all the villagers of Urali-kanchan.
