Volume 50, Issue 1 April 2015 Monthly Publication of Woodbridge Elks Lodge 2355 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks LODGE OFFICERS 2015-2016 EXALTED RULER Michael Haman EXALTED RULER S MESSAGE Hello Elk family, and welcome to a new Elk year. First of all, I would like to offer my humble and sincere thank you and appreciation, for the confidence and trust you have to elect me as your Exalted Ruler. I give you my word and promise that I will do my absolute best in satisfying the duties required of an Exalted Ruler. I am extremely fortunate and very grateful to have a strong, knowledgeable and experienced team of officers, trustees, PERs and committee members behind me, and without a doubt I will be leaning on them for advice and consultation going forward. This years team of officers and trustees are as follows: Exalted Ruler - Michael Haman Esteemed Leading Knight - Ken Smart Esteemed Loyal Knight - Domingo Gonzales Esteemed Lecturing Knight - Sherri Stramel Secretary - Ken Catterton Treasurer - John Elliott Chaplain - Robert Kane Esquire - Lilian Garland Inner Guard - Karen Smart Tiler - Susan McDaniel Continued... LEADING KNIGHT Ken Smart LOYAL KNIGHT Domingo Gonzales LECTURING KNIGHT - Sherri Stramel ESQUIRE Lilian Garland CHAPLAIN Robert Kane SECRETARY - Ken Catterton TREASURER John Elliott INNER GUARD Karen Smart TILER Susan McDaniel 5 YEAR TRUSTEE Vacant 4 YEAR TRUSTEE - Nancy McFarland 3 YEAR TRUSTEE Preston Bryant 2 YEAR TRUSTEE Tim Early, PER 1 YEAR TRUSTEE Mary Louise Mawn, PER

One Year Trustee - Mary Louise Mawn, PER Two Year Trustee - Tim Early, PER Three Year Trustee - Preston Bryant Four Year Trustee - Nancy McFarland Five Year Trustee - Vacant I would like to thank Michael Johnson for his service in our Lodge as our Exalted Ruler for the past two years, and wish him and his family good health and all the best. Congratulations are in order for our Officer of the Year, Nancy McFarland, and our Elk of the Year, Jay McFarland. These true Elks do (and have done) so much for our Lodge. These awards are very well deserved. Congratulations and thank you both for your service and dedication to our Lodge! One of the goals of every Elks Lodge is to increase their membership base. This is also true with our Lodge. What I would like to see is an increase in participation of our existing members in activities, Lodge and Trustee meetings and in community events. It is somewhat frustrating and disappointing to see that some of our Elk brothers and sisters somehow become scarce when things are planned in the Lodge. Therefore, I earnestly charge my leadership team to take the lead on this: encourage some of our Elk family members not to mysteriously disappear when things need to be done in the Lodge or in the community, but to "show up" if only for an hour or two. Enjoy the fellowship and maybe lend a hand. Also, to come and enjoy great food at very reasonable prices (You'll look a long time before you find a better steak dinner for the price on Thursday nights), and enjoy entertainment, especially when Joe Clay's in the house with Karaoke. With the brutally cold winter finally gone and spring in the air, activities around the Lodge are sure to increase. Come out and support YOUR Lodge and fellow Elks, and always remember that Elks are never forgotten, never forsaken. Fraternally Yours, Michael Haman Exalted Ruler

So, Preston and his brother Michael prepared the entire meal. That along with no bartender was available for the bar side. B I N G O is Coming to the Lodge beginning Sunday, May 3 rd SADSAC (Save a Dog Save a Cat) will sponsor BINGO at the lodge on the first Sunday of the month beginning Sunday, May 3 rd from 2:30 6pm. SADSAC is a No Kill shelter dedicated to providing for dogs and cats in need of forever homes. Money raised from the BINGO games will help defray the cost of spay, neuter, medical services and food for the animals. This is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to animals. Please lend your support to this fine organization. Summer Time and Steaks are Sizzling on the Grill! It is that time of year again and the Lodge is ready to clean the cobwebs off the grill and fire it up. Steaks, Hamburg, chops and ribs will soon be sizzling on the outside grill. Hope to see those members join us who stayed inside during the recent very cold weather and snowstorms. Sunday Breakfast Survey Should it Stay OR Should it Go??? Question posed to the membership is: Should Sunday Breakfast Return? Many members have requested the Lodge once again offer Sunday Breakfast. We are ready to comply with this initiative; but need to be reassured that you, the membership, will support it for to be cost effective. Lodge members need to be pro-active and let your officers know if you: Want breakfast to return Don t want breakfast to return Don t care Thank you for your input. New Start Time for Dinner Beginning April 1, Dinner meals served at the lodge will start at 5:30pm vice 5:00pm.
