Governor Gary Cocanougher made his official visit to the Wimberley Club October 18 in local donations to sixteen local organizations and inducting our newest Lion Gary Politte. Lion s Mobile Health Screening sets up at the Methodist Church Health Fair District Governor Gary Cocanougher inspired our membership with stories about his experiences at the Lions International Convention. DG Gary provided interesting information about Lions international, the District, and the Wimberley Lions Club. He said there are currently 1960 Lions in 54 clubs in our District. He has a goal of 2,000 members before his term ends in June. He wants the Wimberley Club to reach 200. He is putting special emphasis on getting his under 20 member clubs up to 20 or higher. He also wants each club to work hard on member retention and finding signature projects. The successful clubs have that ingredient like our Market Days and Buda s Wiener Dog Races. His goals are the same as his motto this year which is Vision of Dreams. So, we all need to work to make the DG s Vision of Dreams a reality by June, 2012. The Governor observed our club handing out $ 21,800 Wimberley Lions staffed health screening equipment owned by the Lions Clubs in our District. Here we have several Lions at work at the Methodist Church Health Fair. Lions Bo Harrison, EJ & Carol Josephson, Meta Wilson, Aurora Lebrun, Gene Germain, Jerry Mackin and John Lyon ran 4 tests. Testing included blood pressure, blood sugar, visual acuity and glaucoma. Those who tested out of the normal were advised to see a professional medical provider. The church raised funds for Habitat for the Humanities.

Sometimes It s a Failure to Communicate Can you Help? Communications is very important with an organization the size of the Wimberley Lions Club. No single venue will be effective for everyone. We need help with our communicating. We can use help writing articles describing our events, highlighting various club members, letting the club get to know new members, covering meetings. We need someone to fill in taking pictures of meetings and events. We need someone to print and mail copies of the Newsletter to the dozen Lions without e-mail. Most importantly, we need your ideas of how we can better communicate to the club members. Let me know if you want to be on this committee and help with these tasks. You do not need to be technical!
