About Safety Week (Big Picture)

Safety Week 2018 Theme Every day, we are faced with choices: Decisions, from the mundane to the major, that set the stage for safety. While some of those choices may be second nature, like buckling seat belts, double-checking harnesses or wearing the right gloves on the job, others require practice before becoming habit. We must empower ourselves and each other to choose safety, time and time again - when we head to work at the beginning of the day, while we re on-site and until we arrive back home, safe again. We commit ourselves to safety because it s not just our personal safety that we hold in our hands: The choices we make - the ones we recognize and those we don t - impact our co-workers, our community and also our family and friends. This responsibility is what inspires us to always do things the right way, the safe way. We are committed to recognizing the opportunities and challenges we face, to speak up when we see an unsafe practice and to always make safe choices. This year, we call on every worker across every position in every company across our industry to join us on this mission. Our choices have the power to ripple across the communities, cities and countries in which we live, work and play. Together, we can and we will create a safer, stronger industry - for ourselves, our colleagues, our families and our friends. That is The power of safe choices.

Safety Week 2018 Messaging Rally Cry: We are stronger and safer together. This universal rally cry brings the industry together throughout the year, outside and in addition to each year s week-long campaign 2018 Campaign Theme: The Power of Safe Choices. Purpose: To create safe work environments, workers, employees and leaders must recognize two things - that they must actively make safe choices each and every day, and that those choices have significant impact on their colleagues, company and their family and friends. This year s campaign brings these two stories together as one: the individual s role and the collective impact of safety, with a nod to the Safety Week rally cry. The overall campaign will focus on the collective impact of safety - that safety extends far beyond job sites and corporate headquarters - while campaign activation will highlight the choices employees can make to think, act and be safe every day, empowering them to create a safer work environment for not only themselves, but for those on the job site and off.

Safety Week 2018 Social Goals Engage Encourage craft workers, families, friends and sponsors to participate in the campaign with educational, interesting and entertaining content that appeals across audience groups Educate Provide valuable resources that sponsors can share across their companies and that inform safe choices every day, at every level Elevate Raise awareness of the Safety Week organization among key audiences, from corporations, employees, workers, media and more
