8 2016 Grassroots Successes U.S. Poverty Campaigns o Your advocacy helped keep the block granting of SNAP out of Speaker Paul Ryan s A Better Way plan (something he has pursued for years) o You ve helped build bipartisan momentum for expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) o You set records for the number of U.S. Poverty groups (40) and Senate face-to-face meetings (41)
9 2016 Grassroots Successes Global Poverty Campaigns o You secured a three-year, $4.3 billion U.S. pledge to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria to support a plan to save 8 million lives. o You built unprecedented bipartisan support for ending preventable maternal and child deaths through the Reach Every Mother and Child Act, which now has the support of a majority of the House and onethird of the Senate. o You pushed the Education for All Act to the brink of being passed into law, setting the stage for our critical global education campaign next year.
