Culture Media Produced in Modern Facilities C u l t u r e M e d i a in Petri Dishes heipha is a leading supplier of culture media for medical microbiology and the pharmaceutical industry since 1973. The facility near Heidelberg, Germany, fully meets the quality standards of the pharmaceutical industry and is EN ISO 9001-2000 certified. heipha operates in accordance with GMP-guidelines supported by a comprehensive quality management system. A p p l i c a t i o n : sterility testing product testing according to EP and USP air monitoring in commercially available sampling systems settle plates water testing personal hygiene monitoring Available as 90 mm and 150 mm plates. C u l t u re M e d i a in Contact Plates A p p l i c a t i o n : hygiene monitoring of surfaces air monitoring in commercially available sampling systems personnel hygiene monitoring The standard contact plates are 55 mm in diameter and have a 1 cm 2 grid on the base in order to facilitate counting. C u l t u r e M e d i a in Tubes, Bottles and Bags The product range includes a full line of culture media for hygiene monitoring and sterility testing according to USP and EP. For the use in sterile environments product safety is of the highest priority. This especially applies when ready-to-use culture media are used in isolators or clean rooms. Therefore heipha has specialized in the development and production of media for such high requirements. Culture media are available in tubes and bottles. Media in bottles are available with standard screw caps, wide mouth screw caps, septum stoppers and septum stoppers combined with screw caps. 3

The icr Product Line heipha consequently develops products to the special needs of the pharmaceutical industry. All ICR products are g-irradiated in the final packaging. Pharma / Cosmetics Petri dishes and contact plates are supplied in quantities of 10 and are triple bagged. This packaging variation ensures safe transfer into isolators and clean room areas. Additionally best protection against mechanical damage during handling is ensured. The inner bag is impermeable to H 2 O 2 and includes a pouch containing a drying agent to minimize the formation of condensation. The bag is provided with a hole at the sealed end for hanging up during the decontamination phase in isolators. All plates are stored at room temperature and individually labelled around the side of the plate with product name, expiry date, lot number and individual plate number. secure but easy to tear closure hole for hanging during gassing desiccant The triple packaging is designed for the special requirements in the most critical areas. outer bag middle bag inner bag 4

Culture Media - Hygiene Monitoring in Isolators and Clean Rooms Unique Features of heipha icr Plates: 1. Use in clean rooms and isolators = one product for all purposes = less validation 2. Storage at room temperature = no cooling capacity blocked = store at site of application 3. Extended shelf life = less lots to be tested (up to 9 months) = less documentation 4. Strong outer bag = maximum protection = easy to open 5. Plates without spacers = no desiccated plates = good recovery after long incubations 6. 30 ml filling volume = long monitoring times (settle plates) = better recovery rates ICR - Rely on Defined Conditions at Any Time! TSA Plates with LTHTh: why? Available as 2283e contact plate 030826e settle plate, 30 ml 030829a 150 mm plate, 80 ml Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHTh: inactivation of accumulated H 2O 2 during active air sampling - recovery of Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 14990 Pharma / Cosmetics 90% 91% 88% 89% During active air sampling low amounts of residual H 2O 2 are highly accumulated in the agar. Concentrations of even more than ppm H 2O 2 can be measured after actively sampling 1m 3 of air. Recovery rate Standard Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA) Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHTh (heipha code 030826e) 0 ppm 0% ppm 0% 200 ppm H 2O 2 concentration per plate 1. more neutralizers = active against additional disinfectants 2. reducing agent = better growth of anaerobic microorganisms 3. H 2 O 2 -inactivation = better recovery rates in isolators 5
