MADHYA PRADESH STATE AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY NATIONAL YOUTH DAY 12 JANUARY 2018 PROGRAMME REPORT National Youth Day is observed every year on 12 January, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Various programs are being organized on the day by Government and non government organizations of youth on the issues related to youth. Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Society also observed the day and various activities have been organized at State and District Level as well. Awareness and Cultural programme for Youth An awareness and cultural event was organized on 12 January 2018 in collaboration with NSS Unit of Barkatulla University, Bhopal. Honorable Dr. Pramod Kumar Verma, Vice Chancellor of the University was Chief Guest and Dr. R. K. Vijay, State NSS Officer from Department of Higher Education, Youth Officer of Govt. of India Shri Giridhar Upadhyaya were the special guest of the program while Shri Umesh Kumar Project Director MPSACS has also shared the Dias. Dr. Anant Saxena NSS Program Coordinator of Barkatullah University, Dr. U.C Yadav, JD B.S and Smt Savita Thakur, JD IEC were also present on the dais. Shri Rahul Singh Parihar has compared the program. More than 800 students from various colleges and University have participated in the program.
Key highlights of the programs were 1- Enlightenment of lamp by the Guests of honor 2- Saraswati Vandna by Students of Satya Sai College 3- Welcome to the Guests 4- Welcome Song by the students of Satya Sai College 5- Address by State NSS Officer 6- Address by Project Director, MPSACS 7- Address by Chief Guest 8- Cultural performances by Students 9- Poster making and Slogan writing competition at University Level 10- Technical sessions and presentations on HIV-AIDS and VBD Inaugural session Program inaugurated formally by the traditional gesture of enlightening of lamp by the honorable Guests. Saraswati Vandna and Welcome song is performed by the Students of Satya Sai Girls College, Bhopal. Welcome of the guests is done by floral buckeye. Welcome address is given by Joint Director, IEC Savita Thakur. In her welcome address she expressed importance of youth in AIDS Control Program and she also shared objectives and details of the programme. She said that awareness of HIV-AIDS is important among youth. Red Ribbon Clubs are formed in colleges with the support of National Saving Scheme (NSS) under Department of Higher Education. The purpose of the RRC are to create awareness about the prevention of HIV-AIDS and maximizing participation of youth in Voluntary Blood Donation. Youth can change scenario by self awareness and by supporting awareness campaign.
Address by Shri Umesh Kumar, IAS, Director AIDS Control Shri Umesh Kumar first greeted the students on Youth Day and said that Red Ribbon Clubs are being run in colleges to make the youth aware about the HIV-AIDS and to maximize their participation in Voluntary Blood Donation. He said that HIV can be controlled by behavioral change in adults. If a person is well aware and careful about the prevention than it is really possible to prevent HIV-AIDS. He appealed to the youth that they should always be aware and alert so that they may be safe and they can help others too, by creating awareness. He said that protection of the rights of People Living with HIV-AIDS is also one of the major concern, therefore awareness about HIV-AIDS in community is important. Due to unawareness stigma and discrimination is happened with them. Youth can contribute in removal of Stigma and discrimination as well. He appreciated participation of NSS, NCC and other youth wings and youth organizations for their proactive participation in Voluntary Blood Donation. Although he emphasized on regular blood donation. Address by chief Guest Dr. P.K. Verma, V.C. of Barkatullah University Bhopal - Dr. Verma said that nowadays technology is upgraded day by day and advanced facilities are available. Technology facilitate in doing our job more conveniently and more effectively in less time, however it can never replace the human brain and sensitivity. He said that education is the base of development. He emphasized on importance of Sewa. He said that our country is developing every day but our Cultural and Moral values are our identity and we should always try to reach on top of the world by maintaining our identity as Indian. He explain the meaning of campaign My University My Responsibility as well. He said swachchhata (cleanliness) of outer world and inner world is equally important. We should try to clean our heart as
well. He congratulated Project Director MPSACS for organizing important programs like Red Ribbon Club for youth. Address by State NSS Officer Dr. R.K Vijay- Dr. Vijay highlighted the activities carried out by NSS during this educational session and congratulated the students, those participated actively in various activities of NSS including Swachchhata Hee Sewa and Red Ribon Club. He said that NSS provided opportunity to learn about the society and to understand the issues of community. Cultural Performances - Cultural performances given by the students of various educational institutes. Street Plays based on HIV-AIDS and Voluntary Blood Donation by LNCT College and Barkatullah University were performed nicely. Issues related to HIV- AIDS have been raised in the play and importance of Voluntary Blood Donation is explained in interesting manner.
Group Dance- Group Dance on patriotic song is performed by Students in the memory of Swami Vivekananda and one more folk dance Kaal Belia is performed by Girls of Aanad Vihar College which are highly appreciated and enjoyed by the audience Technical Sessions- Technical Session on HIV-AIDS is taken by Dr. Manoj Verma, Superintendent of TB Hospital Bhopal. Dr. Verma shared all important aspects of HIV-AIDS including basic information of transmission, prevention and safe practices, condom uses, impact of injecting drugs, of HIV Consellig and testing, STI and ART etc. HIV-TB co-infection and treatment Session on Blood Safety Volunatary blood donation is one of the key component of youth awareness therefore session was planned to provide information and to motivate youth about importance of the voluntary Blood Donation, myths and misconception etc. Dr. Manisha Shrivastava, Blood Transfusion Officer of Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre was invited to take session on the topic.
Dr. Manisha Shrivstava explained all the issues related to Blood Donation like eligibility criteria Vote of Thanks by Dr. Anant Saxena Dr. Anant Saxena, NSS Program Coordinator of Barkatullah University has given vote of thanks to the Guests, program organizers, Media and all the participants to making the event grand success. OTHER PROGRAMME ON YOUTH DAY: Some more programs have also been organized by MPSACS on youth day. The concept was to reach to the young people especially in the area where movement is high. Two spots have been identified for the programs. First is Ikbal Maidan, Sadar Manzil Bhopal which is generally called Old Bhopal and second is DB Mall City where mobilization of youth is very high especially in the evening. Both the programs have been organized with the help of TI and LWS NGOs working with MPSACS. Programme at Ikabal Maidan (Ground) Awareness programme was organized at Ikabal Maidan, Bhopal by the TI NGO Swami Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Shikshan Samiti. Shri Om Yadav, Honorable President of Bhopal Development Association (BDA) was the Chief Guest of the program. Ms. Nidhi Chaurasiya, DRP, LWS Bhopal coordinated the program. Folk Performance and Magic Show have been performed to create awareness. Information of HIV-AIDS, prevention, Services, Help Line 1097 and ART have been given through play and magic items. Messages to remove stigma and discrimination towards People Living with HIV AIDS are also given through play and magic show. Question- answer session was also carried out to involve the public specially youth. Various questions related to HIV-AIDS, VBD, ICTC, PPTCT, ART etc were asked to the audience and prizes given to those answered correctly. Deputy Director MPSACS Shri Prashant Malaiya and Deputy Director Ms. Sunila Sharma Raja and Shri Darpan chaubey PO TSU coordinated program from MPSACS. Hundreds of people attended the program.
Program at DB Mall :- D.B Mall is most popular mall in the Bhopal City because it is situated in the centre and oldest one. Mobilization of youth is generally high in the mall during evening hours. Therefore we planned to organize awareness program there. Similar activities as Ikbal Ground have been organized at DB Mall which is coordinated by TI NGO Jan Swasthya Rakshak Sangh Bhopal. Shri Rahul Kothari Ji, Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha attended the program as Chief Guest. He addressed the gathering and said that we should follow Swami Vivekananda for a better and peaceful life. He is still inspirational for youth. The idealism of Swami Vivekananda is still useful for everyone. He said that youth must be well aware of challenges like HIV-AIDS which can be basically controlled by safe and healthy lifestyle. Shri Santosh Singh, Project Director of Targeted intervention project, Bhopal coordinated the program. Dr. Ankita Patil, Mr. Mahendra Pancholi and team coordinated from MPSACS. Folk Performance, Magic Show and question answer session have been performed for creating awareness on HIV-AIDS, Voluntary Blood Donation etc. Project Director MPSACS Shri Umesh Kumar, Dr. U.C. Yadav, Dr. Ankita Patil and other officers from MPSACS and TSU were also present in the program.

District Level Programs National Youth Day was observed in all 51 districts and Red Ribbon Clubs of the State. Various activities like Rally, Competitions, Human Chain, Awareness programs have been organized by District Chief Medical and Health Officers and Red Ribbon Clubs. Blood donation camps were also organized in some institutes.
