Yoga Ayurveda Accommodation and Food Prices YOGA Yoga is about finding balance between all aspects of the individual: body, mind and soul. The goal is to lead a happy, fulfilling and harmonious life. Yoga is more than pure physical exercise: it is one of the six classical Indian philosophies mentioned in the Vedas the oldest Hinduist writings dating from the 2th millennium BC. On the Western world there are many misunderstandings about what yoga really is. Some think of it as a religion. It is nothing of the sort, even if it is still a way to spirituality and self-discovery. But yoga is open to people of all confessions. Some other people consider yoga just a fitness sport. While it is true that practicing yoga is very beneficial for the body, this is not its primary objective. Yoga strengthens the body the vessel that contains the soul because a weak body is an obstacle to spiritual growth. Of course, one can also practice yoga without considering its spiritual aspect. If when you think about yoga you imagine impossible twists and contortions, and think that it is not for you, because you can t bend in such ways, rest assured: superhuman flexibility is not a requisite. Yoga isn t a rigid set of exercises. Every person has his or her own starting point and rhythm. Yoga adapts to you. In the Ayushkamy there is a heavy focus on yoga. Vinod is not only the head of the resort, but also an excellent yoga teacher (Hatha yoga). The yoga sessions are in the morning and in the evening. Sessions are 90 minutes long and suitable for beginners and advanced. Individual lessons on request.
AYURVEDA Ayurveda is about 5,000 years old and thus the oldest known healthcare discipline in the world. It uses the resources of nature to balance the body and the mind. What is special about Ayurveda is that it is primarily not interested in diseases, but in people and their individual constitutions. Ayurveda is based on the fundamental principle that health is the natural condition of an individual, as long as his or her mind and body are in harmony with nature and him/herself. Disease is therefore the result of disharmony or unbalance. Ayurveda is also about tackling root problems and not about treating symptoms. The Ayushkamy resort offers a variety of ayurvedic treatments in its own Ayurveda Hall, but it is not a clinic resort, where the deeper, more intense ayurvedic cures are undertaken. On the contrary, here you can simply relax and enjoy a few of the following treatment methods: Ayurveda treatments for body and soul and relaxes the muscles. Elakizhi reduces general body pain, cramps, inflammation of joints
Abhyangam a highly rejuvenating oil massage from neck to toe which tones the skin and relieves body pain. It also stimulates blood circulation. Pizhichil helps to treat rheumatic pain, osteoarthritis, spondylitis and lower back pain. Shirodhara refreshes the brain and cranial nerves. THE FOOD
Food plays an important role in Ayurveda and yoga. Consequently, the Ayushkamy also pays special attention to its cuisine. The Ayushkamy offers excellent traditional dishes from Kerala. It is vegetarian and cooked, but on request it is also possible to enjoy the fruits of the sea. They are then bought fresh directly from the village s fishermen. The house kitchen is vegetarian, but rest assured, Kerala s excellent cuisine guarantees a delicious meal without the need of including any meat. THE COTTAGES The cottages are basic, but very tastefully decorated. Each spacious cabin has a bathroom and a large bed with mosquito nets. Additionally, there is a small veranda or terrace in every cottage, from which you can enjoy a view to the resort and the surrounding backwaters
