PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA 15232 June 9, 2018 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Course Directors: Kathirvel Subramaniam, MD, MPH, FASE Program overview: This program is intended to provide a comprehensive review of Basic Echocardiography used in current anesthesia, perioperative and critical care practice using concise didactic lectures, problem based case presentations and hands on workshops. This activity is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Physicians Department of Anesthesiology and the Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences (Course # 7189). Target Audience: Anesthesiologists and Critical Care Physicians Emergency room physicians, Surgeons and Physicians from other specialties who are involved in the care of critically ill patients Trainees including Fellows, Residents and Medical Students

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to: Understand the basics of ultrasound and ultrasound machine knobology for image optimization Learn basic transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography views Apply safe practices in echocardiography & understand the indications, advantages, limitations and complications related to echocardiography Learn the practical problem based approach of using basic echocardiography in the operating room and intensive care unit Understand echocardiography evaluation of hemodynamic instability in critical care, trauma victims, abdominal organ transplants and other non-cardiac surgical patients Prepare for the basic echocardiography boards conducted by National Board of Echocardiography Registration Fee: Physicians $200 Trainees $100 UPMC Anesthesiology Residents & Fellows Complimentary Speakers Complimentary Registration fee includes admission to the program with CME credits, continental breakfast, break, and lunch.
