Tufano, MD, FACS Intent and Overview Recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to thyroid and parathyroid disorders, particularly for neoplastic disease, have yielded a change in traditional management paradigms. This course is intended to provide the practitioner an array of contemporary management elements with which to treat patients with endocrine disorders of the head and neck. Objectives At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the basis for, and implementation of minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid procedures. 2. Recognize the indications and diagnostic accuracy of office-based ultrasound in an endocrinology and surgical practice. 3. Understand the extent of surgical therapy for thyroid malignancies, together with the management approach for non-localizing hyperfunctional parathyroid glands. 1

Who Should Attend Surgeons, Endocrinologists, and other professionals who manage patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT The is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other healthcare professionals are awarded 1.2 continuing education units (CEU s) which are equal to 12.25 contact hours. 2
