Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Opportunity Strain & Span in Ayurveda You spend 5 and 1/2 years as 18 X 3 Phase + 12 months 18 subjects in 3 phases First Professional 6 subjects Second Professional 6 subjects Third Professional 6 subjects Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

First Professional 1. Padartha Vigyan 2. Astang Hridayam (Sutrasthan) 3. Sanskrit 4. Ayurveda Itihas 5. Rachna Sharir 6. Kriya Sharir Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Sanskrit Sanskrit we think as dead language, but most of the traditional scientific information is in Sanskrit. I strongly feel Sanskrit as a key subject in Ayurveda and Ayurvedic scientific Sanskrit should be separated and taught to the students.

Ayurveda Itihasa To know the history is necessary In spite of many oppositions also this subject continues in Ayurveda curriculum, which is not at all useful in any manner to become a successful Ayurveda practitioner

Astanga Hridayam A melodies rhythmic Ayurvedic traditional treatise is Astanga Hridayam Rather than teaching it as a separate subject combined with Sanskrit and Itihasa (History) makes sense and easy to students But it is at present mandatory to students, whether they understand it or not

Padartha Vijanan Many of the Ayurvedic community does not understand this subject at all. They feel it as unnecessary subject in Ayurveda curriculum. Padartha Vijnana is a concomitant Quantum Physics, Micro Chemistry, etc. Physical sciences A lifeless to life conversion and vice versa is discussed here.

Rachana Sareera Shareera is a subject tells about the body Rachana is a tissue, Organ structural descriptive tells about the body structure i.e. Anatomy For understanding the functions of the body, it is very much necessary to know about the body through dissection.

We already know that Shareera is body Body functions are Kriya Vata, Pitta and Kapha along with body tissues formation and functions are studied here The proper understanding makes us to know the pathology well and treat the patient successful Kriya Shareera

Second Professional (1) Rasa Sastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana (2) Dravyagun Vigyan (3) Agad Tantra, Vyavhar Ayurved & Vidhi Vaidyak (4) Rog Vigyan Avam Vikriti Vigyanam (5) Charaka Samhita (6) Swastha Vritta Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Swastavritta Swasta means the Health and the procedures followed to get it is Swastavritta Personal, Social, Spiritual, mental healthiness is obtained through the said regimens The part of Yoga and its practice is also accepted by Ayurveda and practiced here Not obeying the rules and regulations leads to disease

Roga Vijnana & Vikriti Vijnana Vikriti Vijanan is Pathology and the Roga Vijnana is disease diagnostics It is very much necessary to learn in the background knowledge of Sanskrit, Padartha Vijanana, Rachana Shareera and Kriya Shareera

Agad Tantra, Vyavhar Ayurveda Agada is (Antitoxic) Forensic medicine and Vyavahara Ayurveda is Medical Jurisprudence Forensic Medicine in Ayurveda is a special branch deals with treatments of different poisonous Animals bites and Insects stings Forensic pathology is a branch of pathology concerned with determining the cause of death by examination of a corpse is also included Jurisprudence is the theory and philosophy of law in Medicine.

Dravyaguna Dravyaguna speaks about the Identification, Propagation, Therapeutic uses of the Plant Kingdom in Ayurveda

Rasa Sastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana This is a combination of two subjects : Rasa shastra a science of Metals and Nonplant kingdom materials used in treatments Bhaishajya Kalpana is pharmaceuticals, where the preparation of Herbal and Herbo- Mineral combinations This branch uses Metals, Gems, Resins, etc

Charaka Samhita (Poorvartha) Charaka Samhita is said as the fundamental text to treat successfully Even though the content subject is a repetition, it is in the curriculum to introduce Samhita Method of Study

Final Professional 1. Prasuti Tantra, Striroga 2. KaumarBhritya 3. Kaya Chikitsa 4. Shalya Tantra 5. Shalakya Tantra 6. Charak Samhita Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Charaka Samhita (Uttarartha) The second half of the Samhita is studied here even though it covers entire in Kayachikitsa

Prasuti Tantra, Striroga Any race is necessary to reproduce major part of procreation in Humanoid forms taken by women Problems of women and procreative procedures (Pregnancy and Delivery) are dealt here along with management

Kaumara Bhritya Kumara means Child As in the offspring development child is born From the first breath till the time child develops as full human Child welfare immunization, developmental landmarks, problems and treatments are dealt here

Kayachikitsa Kaya means body and its management is Kayachikitsa It takes the background from the learned subjects of 1 st and 2 nd phases of BAMS and applies over patient The first step is Pulse - Diagnosis and Pathology learnt from 2 nd phase is applied to make reverse pathology planning

Kayachikitsa continued... Chiefly the Therapeutics planning is in two way For Healthy Rejuvenation (Rasayana) and Procreative aphrodisiacs (Vajikarana) Prophylactic Managements through Yoga, etc. For Diseased Medication Therapeutics (Kashaya, Vati, etc) Putative managements (Panchakarma)

Shalakya Tantra Eye, Dental and Ear- Nose Throat diseases together dealt in Ayurveda as Urdhwanga Chikitsa or Shalakya Tantra Elaborately classification, therapeutics, surgical and non surgical measures are dealt vividly

Shalya Tantra 20 th Century advancements are seen in this Surgical managements along with the good old traditional measures Till the date even though many obstacles are faced due to Govt. Policies present court orders express the rapid development in this area

Registered practitioners in Siddha, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani are eligible to practice surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology, ENT, ophthalmology, etc -Madras High Court Verdict Reacting to the latest order, state health secretary VK Subburaj said they were just making use of the provisions in the Act. But this is allowed only for those who attended colleges and underwent training for surgeries. Source : Times of India July 30 2010

Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Common Initial Problems 1. Difficulty in Learning & application of Sanskrit 2. Feeling of unnecessary study of subjects 3. Not getting the link for Understanding the Ayurveda terms at contemporary context 4. Confusion of Ayurveda Concepts at present day practice 5. How when where the Ayurveda Medicine acts 6. How to understand this phenomenon? Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/

Clearing Obstacle Instead of cursing the Darkness try to lit a small light that spreads in all direction and removes the darkness In the same way in Ayurveda each and every topic, step by step clarification reflects in multidirectional subject development Ayurmitra Dr. K. Shiva Rama Prasad, at http://technoayurveda.wordpress.com/
