Therefore, April has been a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working collectively to prevent child abuse. Each year, innocent children have been victimized by significant persons that interrupted their childhood development. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) childhood stress or trauma has been linked to long-term physical and emotional difficulties in adulthood. CASA strives to address the needs of abused and neglected children in the court system by assigning a CASA Volunteer. On average, CASA serves approximately 500 children with approximately 140 CASA Volunteers. While CASA provides service to 500 children, there are waiting children that need CASA Volunteers. Help CASA KIDS! Become a CASA Volunteer! Donate to CASA so that CASA can continue to train and supervise volunteers! Tell someone else about CASA! Become a CASA Board Member! Get a business to support our fundraisers! Become a Superhero for CASA Kids Support the Superheroes Night at the Grizzlies Stadium. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Southwestern Illinois recruits, trains, supervises and supports volunteers who advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children in the court system of St. Clair, Monroe and Madison counties in order to reduce the physical, emotional, intellectual and social impact of child maltreatment.
