25th Anniversary Fundraising Guide Welcome! Thank you for choosing to support St Luke's in our 25th anniversary year. This pack has all the ideas you need to help us celebrate this fantastic achievement. From sponsored walks and head shaving, swinging through trees and having a zumbathon, it s a lot of fun, but fundraising has a very serious aim - to support us to care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We have given you a wide range of ideas for fundraising events, no matter if you are young, young at heart, creative, arty, sporty, want to do a 150ft bungee jump, just have a tea party or pub quiz there are things for everyone to get involved in! However, if you have something that you would like to do that s not in this guide then go for it! Anything you do can be turned into a fundraising event. The Community Fundraising Team are always on hand to offer support and advice. Other ways to help the hospice If an event is not for you, then there are many other ways of supporting the Hospice. Have one of our little houses to collect small change at home or at work Attend one of our Hospice events, participate in the Midnight Walk. Help to raise awareness of St Luke s Hospice in the Community. There is no regular commitment, just help when you can, no formal meetings, no boring paperwork and no accounts. All funds raised will be handed over to Hospice directly and you are covered by Hospice insurance and supported by the Community Fundraising Team Could you spare some time to volunteer? Getting started with your event.. It really is very simple Choose your event, either one from this pack or your own idea Contact the Community Fundraising Team on 01606 551246 so that we can provide you with collecting buckets, t-shirts, copies of our logos for publicity and if you need them, sponsor forms You are covered by our insurance for any event that you do If you are doing a sponsored event set up a www.justgiving.com or www.virginmoneygiving.com page and send everyone the link to let them know what you are doing If you are not computer savvy email us and we can set this up for you. Go for it! Once you have collected all of the money, you can either post a cheque to us, pop in to the Hospice in Winsford or call us to arrange collection easy! Keep us up to date with your fundraising efforts We love to hear about the fantastic things the community are doing to help us raise the 6500 it costs to run the hospice for a day! Email your photos, links, information and even videos to diane_eeley@stlukes-hospice.co.uk Promoting Your Event Tell US! We can give you help with items you may need for your event such as t-shirts and banners to promote what you are doing and record your activity on our database. Logos and Charity Number - all publicity must have the St Luke's logo, charity and company number on them. Just give us a call and we can send these to you via email. Social Media - This is a really simple way of letting friends and family know what you are doing. Local Media - Newspapers and radio are great for getting your message out. We can provide you with local contacts, just give us a call. Be Clear - On your publicity specify what you re doing, where, exactly when, how to get tickets and always mention St Luke's!

25th Anniversary Fundraising Guide What your support means to local people The money you raise will go directly towards providing specialist nursing care for local people suffering life limiting illnesses and support for their families free of charge 24 hours a day 365 days a year. St Luke's is where people from all over Mid and South Cheshire can find a safe refuge during a difficult journey. We re a small hospice with a big heart, offering high levels of specialist care within a gently supportive environment. Did you know 53 provides a one hour session of complementary therapy 76 pays for a counselling session 269 funds a day at the Day Hospice for a patient 444 funds the cost of a 24-hour stay in the In-patient unit for one person 6500 pays to keep the whole hospice running for a day It costs 4.50 per minute to provide these services and we rely on the kind generosity of local communities and businesses. Providing care and support for 25 years St Luke s was founded in 1983 and was officially opened in 1988, starting with a Day Care unit. It has since grown into being able to provide a 10 bedded In-Care unit, Day Care and a whole host of other services. In 2012 we directly helped 3114 people from Mid and South Cheshire with our services.

Frequently Asked Questions 25th Anniversary Fundraising Guide How do I prove I am authorised to raise funds for St Lukes? If you call us on 01606 555697 we can provide a letter to say that we know about your fundraising. Can I do a street collection? Yes you can, but you need to apply for a licence from the local council in your area. Details can be found on their website. How do I run a raffle? You do not need a license to run a raffle providing you: A) Sell tickets and draw the raffle on the SAME day. B) At least 20% of the profits (after costs) must come to the Hospice. C) The prizes cannot be valued at over 250 or be cash. Am I covered by Hospice insurance for my event? Yes, you are covered by our insurance but you must also always check that the venue you use for your event is insured and if needed have a valid licence. Where do I get sponsorship forms from? We can provide you with personalised sponsorship forms, help you set up a just giving page, provide t-shirts, buckets and banners! Just call the office 01606 555697. Can the hospice pay for any equipment or upfront costs? Sadly we cannot pay for any costs incurred when organising an event. Most establishments are willing to be flexible and be paid after an event and all the money has been collected in. If you need any help or advice please call 01606 555697.
