VENTURA COUNTY, HEALTH CARE AGENCY INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR: Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Psychiatric Unit 2007HCA-17AA (MI) An Equal Opportunity Employer SALARY RANGE (approximate) $29.30 - $49.96 Hour $5,078.67 - $8,659.73 Monthly $60,944.00 - $103,916.80 Annually POSITION INFORMATION This is a multilevel announcement for Rehabilitation Therapists-Per Diem Pool (PDP) III and IV, Occupational Therapist, and Senior Occupational Therapist for the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU). Depending on the level, under the close and/or general supervision or direction and guidance of the supervising therapist, plans, organizes, and implements rehabilitation programs in treatment and/or community services. The Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III & IV are limited benefited employees who provide rehabilitation services. Distinguishing Characteristics: The Per Diem Pool classifications are distinguished from Regular classifications in that additional compensation is provided in lieu of full benefits. Per Diem Pool assignments are scheduled flexibly or on an as-needed basis; therefore, incumbents are not guaranteed any specific number of work hours per biweekly pay period and may be called off if there is insufficient work to be performed during any assigned shift. Persons hired into these classes will be hired in accordance with the required knowledge, skills, abilities, and educational/ licensure requirements of each classification. PAYROLL TITLE: Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III, Rehabilitation Therapists-PDP IV, Occupational Therapist, and Sr. Occupational Therapist APPROXIMATE SALARIES Rehabilitation Therapist III-PDP: $45.24 per hour Rehabilitation Therapist IV-PDP: $49.96 per hour Occupational Therapist: $29.30 - $40.94 per hour Sr. Occupational Therapist: $31.95 - $47.06 hour EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for educational incentive. This incentive may be 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% for incumbents in eligible positions based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.

BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for bilingual incentive depending on the applicable memorandum of agreement and the needs of the department. In order to qualify for this incentive, incumbents in eligible positions must take and pass the applicable bilingual fluency exam with a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher. DEPARTMENT/AGENCY: Health Care Agency Rehabilitation Therapists III & IV, Occupational Therapist, and Sr. Occupational Therapist are represented by the Services Employee International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation. NOTE: These classifications are within a bargaining unit that is subject to an agency shop arrangement which mandates a Regular employee to either join Local 721 of SEIU and pay dues as a member OR either pay a service fee to Local 721 or direct that an amount equivalent to the service fee be distributed to a qualified charitable organization. NOTE: Per Diem Pool employees shall be required to pay union representational service fees at the rate of 1/80th of the normal union fees for each hour compensated in a pay period, not to exceed eighty (80) hours. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies for this position only, which is one (1) Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV position. NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level without further exam upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department. TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OPENING DATE: August 4, 2017 CLOSING DATE: Continuous and may close at any time; therefore, the schedule for the remainder of the process will depend upon when we receive a sufficient number of qualified applications to meet business needs. Examples Of Duties: Duties performed are in accordance with the California licensure or certification standards and may include but are not limited to the following (depending upon the classification level): Performs evaluation and ongoing assessment of patients to determine functional status and deficits; Plans, develops, and utilizes procedures to meet the needs of patients; Confers with the physician, patient, and family and sets functional goals for therapy;

Performs tests and measures within the scope of hired profession; Initiates and maintains records of patients' status and progress; Recommends necessary equipment and supplies needed to enhance patient treatment and care; Provides patient and family education to assist in achievement of functional goals; Coordinates physical and occupational therapy programs with other agencies; Utilizes therapeutic techniques in working toward these goals with groups or individuals; Assists in education and advocacy activities; Provides occupational therapy services in accordance with the California Business and Professions Code, Occupational Therapy Practice Act, and consistent with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Standards of Practice for Occupational Therapy; Sets functional goals for therapy in coordination with the prescribing physician, patient, family, and/or caregiver; and Participates with in-service training; In addition to the duties listed above, Occupational Therapist and Senior Occupational Therapist duties may include but are not limited to the following: Assists in planning to meeting department needs and organizational performance improvement goals; Under supervision, develops and implements department programs; and Performs other assigned duties as required. TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS These are entrance requirements to the exam process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list. EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE A broad background consisting of training and/or experience which would provide the knowledge and abilities to perform Occupational Therapy. Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of physical therapy OR proof of equivalency. Necessary Special Requirements for Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III: Possession of a current valid Physical Therapist license issued by the State of California OR must be eligible to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist License within the probationary period. Once obtained, a current valid California Physical Therapist License is a condition of continued employment.

Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy OR proof of equivalency. Necessary Special Requirements For Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP III Possession of a current, valid certificate from the NBCOT OR must be eligible to apply for and obtain a certificate from the NBCOT within the probationary period. Once obtained, a current, valid California Occupational Therapy License is a condition of continued employment. Rehabilitation Therapist - PDP IV: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of physical therapy or proof of equivalency, plus two (2) years of physical therapy experience OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department or an equivalent training program and one (1) year of experience as a physical therapist. Necessary Special Requirements for Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV: Possession of a current valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California OR must be eligible to apply for and obtain a valid California Physical Therapist license within the probationary period. Once obtained, a current valid California Physical Therapy License is a condition of continued employment. Rehabilitation Therapist-PDP IV: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy OR proof of equivalency, plus two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist OR successful completion of an internship program with the hiring department OR an equivalent training program and one (1) year of experience as an occupational therapist. Working ability to: provide leadership in various types of rehabilitation therapy activities; interpret rehabilitation therapy activities to hospital and day treatment facility personnel, relatives, patients, and others; teach other basic activity skills; analyze situations accurately and take an effective course of action; establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and coworkers; work cooperatively with a multi-disciplinary team; plan and clinically supervise the work of others; and make appropriate referrals.
