Andrej Trampuz, MD Since 2013 he is Assistant Professor for Infectious Diseases and Head of the Center for Septic Surgery at the Charité University Medicine Berlin, Germany. He performed his Board Exam in internal medicine (1997) and infectious diseases (2001) in Switzerland, followed by postdoctoral research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA (2001-2004), where he developed the sonication procedure for improved diagnosis of infection in removed implants. He performed afterwards research at the University Hospital Basel and Lausanne, Switzerland. His current laboratory research involves the development and validation of novel methods for diagnosis and treatment of implant-associated infections, including animal models, emergence of antimicrobial resistance and new diagnostic methods.
Nora Renz, MD She performed her Board Exam in Internal Medicine in Switzerland (2014) and worked thereafter as Attending Physician in Internal Medicine in Bern. Since 2015 she joined the interdisciplinary team at the Center for Septic Surgery at Charité University Medicine Berlin, Germany. She leads the consultation service for several surgical clinics: orthopaedic & traumatology, plastic & reconstructive, thoracic & cardiovascular, visceral, and neurosurgical units. In addition, she supervises internal medicine and surgical fellows rotating at our Center for Septic Surgery. She authored several recent publications related to biofilms and implant infections.
