Same as above but players try to tag others (below neck!). When tagged dribble to the boundary, do 10 ball touches & rejoin game. T.E.A.M.W.O.R.K. Staying Healthy and Strong Through Good Nutrition Today, like every day, start with a healthy breakfast: whole grain cereal with low fat milk and fruit whole wheat bread with a scrambled egg and 100% fruit juice Eat a variety of foods from these important food groups: whole grains (like brown rice and oatmeal) protein (like lean meats, fish and beans) low fat dairy products (like milk, yogurt and cheese) fruit and vegetables Apples, bananas, carrots, broccoli and other fruits and vegetables give you the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Choose different colored fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Make smart food choices. Eat less unhealthy foods like chips, candy, fried foods and soda make these occasional treats. These do not fuel your body well! Water drink it! Drink lots of fluid, especially water, to stay hydrated before, during and after practice and games. Offer your body a healthy snack before and after exercise to improve performance and recovery. See examples on the other side. Rest your body. Get a good night s sleep! It helps your mind and body recover. Keep your energy in balanced with your energy out. Avoid eating extra food that your body does not need.

ACTIVITY PLAN Author: White Age Group: U10 Week 2 Receiving Warm up general coordination. 20 x 20 Yard Area. One ball per player. Players dribble around the grid. On the coach s command the players pick up and toss the ball in the air and then receive the ball with different parts of their body. Keep your eye on the ball Maintain body balance Head check First touch into space Week 2 Receiving Individual Activity individual receiving skills. Six players needed. Four of the players take a spot on the corners of a 15 x 15 yard grid. Two players go inside the grid and will be playing 1v1. Two of the corner players have a ball. One player in the middle is designated the attacking player to start. Attacking player makes a run to a corner player to receive a ball that has been tossed by the corner player. The first touch is FREE. A point is scored when an inside player receives a ball and passes the ball to a corner player who doesn t have a ball. Then the attacking player runs to the corner player who has the second ball and repeats. If the defending player wins the ball, then that player becomes the attacker. Rotate the players after 1 minute. Get in line with flight of the ball Early selection of controlling surface Head check to see the ball and check where the pressure is Maintain body balance

ACTIVITY PLAN Author: White Age Group: U10 Week 2 Receiving Small Group Activity individual receiving skills under pressure. 30 x 20 grid. Form three teams of three. Divide the grid into thirds. The two teams in the final thirds of the grid try to score against the team in the middle third. A point is scored when a ball is played over or through their third in the air to one of the players in the opposite final third. If the ball goes out ofbounds or the team in the middle third wins the ball, the team responsible for the error goes into the middle third. The team with the most points wins. T.e.a.m.w.o.r.k. in Action Teamwork relies on the whole team - every individual player as well as the coaches. If you or any one of your teammates is not participating at their full potential, the team cannot play well. The energy you get from food keeps your body working like a team. The PLAYERS on a team are the major nutrients: Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. They provide energy (energy = calories) for the body to move! The COACHES are the vitamins and minerals. They are necessary for creating the energy you need to grow and stay strong. When we get thirsty and dried out, we call in our SUBS to give us water to feel alive with energy again. You should drink every 15-20 minutes during play. The GOALKEEPER is your source of protection he or she keeps out the soda, cookies, cakes, candies and fried food. Athletes do not use these foods to give them energy! Building a strong team requires a little pre-and post work too. Before you get to a practice or game, you should be fueled up and ready to play. About 30-60 minutes before you play soccer, remember to drink water and have a healthy snack. During soccer practice and games drink lots of water, about 1 cup (8 oz) every 20 minutes. A sports drink can be helpful if you play for longer than 1 hour. When you leave the field, it s not over after you play soccer, drink water and re-fuel your body with a healthy snack within 30-60 minutes. It will help you play better tomorrow. Players jog without a ball inside the area. One player (pacman) dribbles in the area and tries to pass the ball to hit the other players below the knee. When a player gets hit below the knee he joins the (pacman) team. Change of direction Ball Control Correct passing technique. Groups of 2 with 1 ball at each of the 5 yard goals. In pairs, players pass the ball back and forward through their 5 yard goal. The ball must never stop and must stay on the ground and must pass cleanly through the 5 yard goal. Players have a maximum of 2 touches to get the ball back to their partner. If a player commits any of the above fouls they get 1 point. The first player who gets five points loses. Players can go against other team mates.
