The History behind the name Bluenose Bulletin 50 Years of Alcoholics Anonymous in Nova Scotia 1946 1996. This volume also resides in our NS Archives. I am now quoting from this text June 1949 saw the first issue of the Bluenose Bulletin. It was published in Halifax with Bruce W. as editor. Bruce had a long history of drinking until coming to AA. The idea came to Bruce, in a cell in Dartmouth, of a means to carry the wonderful message of AA and the highlights of the different group doings, to others in the Atlantic Provinces. For the first while the publication was financed by the E.D.I Club, Halifax, but eventually it was looked after by Maritime Inter-Group. As the first AA Newsletter for the Atlantic Provinces, and for a time the only one of its type in Eastern Canada, it was a forum for a free exchange of ideas. There was a list of upcoming events, and reports on most of the activities that took place. Newsletter To have announcements included in the monthly Newsletter please forward your request to newsletter.aahalifax@gmail.com or call Bill P. (902)219-2140 by the 25 th of each month for inclusion in the following month. Please provide instructions with notices do not assume they will continue to run month after month. Please identify your group and meeting night for birthday announcements.
