Training Updates Alcohol & Ageing As the population grows older and support needs become more complex, it is increasingly important that practitioners are aware of alcohol-related issues affecting the over 50 s. Non-alcohol specialists working with this age-group have a crucial role in identifying the needs of this group, the role that alcohol may play in their lives, and accessing support where necessary. Friday 6th January 2017 09:30-16:30 Alcohol Screening & Brief Interventions The course equips workers with the knowledge, skills and tools to identify individuals who are drinking at increasing and higher-risk levels and to deliver simple brief advice and interventions. Tuesday 7th February 2017 09:30-16:30 NPS (New Psychoactive Substances) & current trends (including chemsex) This course highlights changing patterns, prevalence and sourcing of substances being used locally and nationally, and aims to increase confidence of professionals working with those who may be using these new psychoactive substances. It develops screening and assessment skills and enables professionals to support service-users via advice and referral to specialist services when relevant. Thursday 16th March 2017 09:30-16:30 To book any of these courses plus others, please visit Brighton & Hove Learning Gateway here. We also offer bespoke training sessions. If your staff team/organisation could benefit from a training session but can t attend one of the set training dates we can come to you for more specialised sessions. Please contact our team at healthpromotion@pavilions.org.uk / 01273 731900 for more information. 9

Survivors Network Survivors' Network is a registered charity that aims to reduce sexual violence and its impact on survivors' lives. We are a fully accredited member of Rape Crisis England and Wales and are the Rape Crisis Centre for Sussex. We understand that a healing journey starts with a small step and are here to help you. We know that it takes a lot of courage to seek help for the effects of sexual abuse. There is no right or wrong way to feel afterwards and there is no fixed time for recovery. No-one ever asks to be raped or is responsible for the attack in any way. We believe that with the right support you can heal from your experiences.
