ACTIVITY INFORMATION COURSE DESCRIPTION This dynamic and interactive conference will equip primary care providers, sleep specialists and other healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with otolaryngic disorders with the most current clinical information, technological advances, innovative approaches and recent guidelines to support optimal care. The program is divided into four sessions: Ears, Nose/Sinus, Mouth/Throat and Neck with each session offering an in-depth review of the most important issues facing PCPs. A working lunch encourages interaction among participants and allows a choice of two mini-seminars to ensure the most meaningful use of each participant s time. An afternoon skills lab presents a final opportunity for attendees to refine their ENT skills. TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work in general medicine, family practice and pediatrics, as well as other healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with otolaryngologic conditions. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Evaluate and discuss effective treatments, technologies and diagnostic modalities available for patients with sinusitis and other nasal disorders, to improve their quality of life Determine appropriate assessment and management strategies for patients seeking treatment for clinical ear conditions, including infections, balance disorders, tinnitus and hearing loss Recognize when to refer a patient to an ENT specialist, and be able to counsel patients regarding possible treatment options the specialist might recommend Participate in workshops to enhance skills in evaluating the techniques and technologies used in sinus surgery Apply acquired knowledge of common neck masses, diagnostic options, imaging modalities and treatment options for patients presenting with a head and neck mass or tumor Identify medical, surgical and nutritional approaches for the adult patient population, based on the relationship between sleep apnea and weight loss Effectively manage obstructive sleep apnea, including counseling patients in the utilization of dental devices to minimize the risk of CVD ACCREDITATION STATEMENT Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
