HELLO FRIENDS! Thank you for participating in the First Annual Youth Action Day in support of The ALS Association! By signing up to open an Iced Tea Stand on Sunday May 6 th, you are joining forces with young people across the country working to make your generation the first to find a cure for ALS. You are making a difference to everyone in the ALS community by helping to raise funds that will support research and patient programs. The following pages contain your toolkit to help plan, promote, and create your Iced Tea Stand. Get creative! We ve gotten you started but want to see everything that you can do! Together we can empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. Thank you for your initiative and commitment to creating a world where ALS is understood, treated, and cured! Step 1: Register! A D PLAN YOUR STAND 1 Ask Mom, Dad, or an adult to help you! 2 Register your stand at www.youthactionday.als-ny.org 3 Click Start A Fundraiser 4 Choose the first option Start An Individual Page 5 Select Youth Action Day Iced Tea Challenge 6 Fill in all your information. 7 Complete the online waiver. Step 2: Get Going! A D PLAN YOUR STAND PICK A PLACE Anywhere! Pick a spot where lots of people will see you. Be sure to ask permission! PICK A TIME Youth Action Day is Sunday, May 6th, 2018. Pick a time when people around you will be thirsty! Can t make it on May 6th? That s okay! Pour tea and spread hope any day in May, which is ALS Awareness Month. SET A GOAL Aim high! See the kind of difference you can make in your community by selling iced tea. Be sure to ask for donations instead of charging for each cup. You never know how generous people can be until you ask!
PROMOTE YOUR STAND Step 3: Spread the Word! Tell family and friends WHEN and WHERE your Iced Tea Stand will open. Print out flyers and signs from this Toolkit or create your own to spread the word! Tell them WHY you are participating in Youth Action Day and HOW they can participate. Promote your stand on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and anywhere else!
CREATE YOUR STAND Sunday, May 6th, 2018 Gather Your Supplies Iced Tea Cups Ice Signs and Flyers Jar for Donations Table Chair Pen and Markers Tape Ice Tea Pitcher Goal Sheet Participant Pin-Ups Print out the Ice Tea Pitcher Goal Sheet and bring it with you to chart your progress on Iced Tea Challenge Day. Print out the participant pinups and tape them to your stand as you sell iced tea. Keep track of how many people had an iced tea and helped you spread hope!
COLLECT DONATIONS Use a jar or other container to collect donations. Any checks can be made out to The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter. If someone wants to donate online, help them out by having your One Dollar Difference page available at your stand. Ask those who aren t able to come to donate online. Encourage customers to donate how much they feel comfortable. Any amount helps, no matter how small! A lot of people doing a little can change the world. PLEASE GIVE Collect all cash donations and send one check to The Greater New York Chapter or call 212-720-3043 to make a credit card contribution. Do not mail cash. Send thank you cards to your donors for their help!
