ABOUT Student Leadership Program Conference The leadership program provides a structured opportunity to educate students on healthcare and cancer care in Ontario, inspire them to create change, and invest in their community. As a student ambassador, you will receive: A free 1.5 hour tour and presentation allowing students to see and hear the impact your fundraising dollars are having at the cancer centre The chance to view the world class radiation centre, the labs of key researchers, the new research tower, a surgical suite and/or a clinical area of interest An opportunity to hear from world renowned doctors, researchers and radiation oncologists, whose work has been directly impacted by fundraising dollars Take an active leadership role and meet like minded students Journey To Conquer Cancer The Journey To Conquer Cancer is a community walk that benefits the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Participants can choose to walk or run 1k, 3k, or 5k, supporting any area of cancer research, clinic, lab, fund or patient care program at The Princess Margaret. As a student ambassador, you will: Raise awareness about The Journey To Conquer Cancer and The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Encourage friends, family, and fellow students to participate in the event Create your own fundraising initiatives that will support your team Receive the necessary tools and skills to empower others in their community Lunch provided at Leadership Conference Student Leadership Conference Date: May 15 th, 2018 Time: 10:00am 2:00pm Location: 610 University Avenue. LESSONS LEARNED THROUGH THE PRINCESS MARGARET CANCER CENTRE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM LEADERSHIP COMMUNITY SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY EMPATHY As a part of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Leadership Program, you will learn valuable skills that creates and fosters confidence, that you can use everyday! You will have the opportunity to meet like minded children, empowering their peers to get involved and help conquer cancer in our lifetime! Through leadership activities, speakers and more we want to inspire you to achieve greatness! The Journey To Conquer Cancer is the largest community walk supporting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. This is only made possible by finding leaders that want to get involved, creating change by empowering their community! We will provide all the tools you need to make a difference within their community. The Leadership Conference will include a behind the scenes tour of the cancer centre, showing kids new technology that helps detect and treat cancer. The chance to view the world class radiation centre, the labs of key researchers, the new research tower, a surgical suite and/or a clinical area of interest. Learn about cancer prevention, through living a healthy lifestyle Empathy is the ability to understand the feelings of others. As a student ambassador, you will be able to meet patients and survivors of all different ages, hear how cancer has affected their families and how Princess Margaret has given them hope. When we find out that someone has cancer, you want to help them and often there isn t much you can do, you re a bystander.
