The Race to Help Homeless Youth Saturday, April 21, 2018
Dear Friends, We are proud to ask for your support for the Ninth Annual Covenant House Florida 5K on A1A The Race to Help Homeless Youth scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 7am along A1A on Fort Lauderdale Beach. About the 5K on A1A The 5K on A1A is the Young Professionals for Covenant House s signature event to raise funds for the care and services offered to homeless youth at Covenant House Florida. This year we anticipate 1,000 individuals, including teams, to run or walk along Fort Lauderdale Beach. By participating, individuals and teams raise money to benefit young people who find themselves homeless and turning to Covenant House Florida for help. The 5K Run/Walk will start and end at the World Famous Parrot Lounge, located at 911 Sunrise Lane, next to Sunrise Boulevard and A1A. The route will feature a special path by the Covenant House Florida shelter where residents and staff members will cheer on the participants. Festivities will include a pre-race warm up, race goodie bags, awards and breakfast. All proceeds from the event will benefit Covenant House Florida. About Covenant House Florida Covenant House Florida is a residential crisis shelter for homeless, runaway and at-risk youth under the age of 21, including teen parents and their babies. Since opening its doors in September 1985, Covenant House Florida has sheltered over 37,500 different youth and provided services to hundreds of thousands. Our on-site services, in addition to basic shelter (beds, security, showers, hot meals, clothing) include: counseling, case management, life skills training, job readiness training, employment assistance, GED classes, health services, drug and alcohol treatment, pregnancy and parenting education, transportation assistance, and transitional housing for older youth bridging into independent living. The Young Professionals for Covenant House is a group of business professionals who plan and attend monthly social, networking, and community events to raise funds and awareness for Covenant House Florida. The group has raised over $1.8 million since 1992 and are proud to host this annual event for the shelter. With your help, we can provide many young people with an opportunity to get off the streets and get the help they need to pursue a healthy and productive life.
