Intensive Didactic and Hands-On Live Sinus Surgery Program Live Surgery by Participants May 1-4th, 2014 Los Algodones, Mexico Baja, California www.handsonsurgery.org Dr. Scott D. Ganz Dr. Carlos Rubio Dr. Ernesto Moran

Live Surgical Procedures in a State-of-the Art Facility Learn to diagnose in 3D followed by LIVE SURGERY performed by all clinical participants Patients to be provided. www.handsonsurgery.org Replacing missing teeth with an implant supported restoration represents both a surgical and restorative challenge. Often there can be lack of space between the roots for standard diameter implants or issues with root convergence, bony defects / concavities, soft tissue concerns, emergence profile, and sufficient bone volume and /or density to stabilize an implant. The use of two dimensional periapical or panoramic imaging fails to provide clinicians with an adequate appraisal of the existing bone anatomy. The evolution of CT and now lower radiation Cone Beam CT (CBCT) allows for an unprecedented three dimensional visualization of the bone, adjacent roots, and nearby vital structures which empowers the clinician with new state-ofthe-art tools to diagnose and treatment plan. Clinicians wishing to achieve true restoratively driven implant reconstruction will learn how to utilize these enhanced digital tool set that improves every aspect of the diagnosis, aids in communication between the patient and clinician, and sets a new standard for CTassisted and CT-guided surgical applications. The purpose of this intensive three and a half day intensive hands-on workshop will be to help clinicians understand how to achieve successful diagnosis, and management of deficient sites, t h r o u g h b o n e g r a f t i n g procedures, specifically sinus augmentation procedures planned with CBCT in advance of the surgical intervention. All participants will gain actual hands-on surgical experience completing sinus augmentation procedures under supervision. Clinicians will also be exposed to various surgical techniques for a lateral sinus or transcrestal approach with Piezo Surgery, small rotary or specially designed large diamond rotary burs that carefully remove the bone to allow access to the sinus. The use of biological membranes including L-PRF may also be demonstrated and utilized during the surgical procedures when possible.

Participants will learn: Pre-surgical prosthetic planning using CT/CBCT imaging and 3-D interactive treatment planning software All patients will provided for live procedures All patients will have a pre-operative CBCT scan Understand the Triangle of Bone concept Pre-surgical prosthetic planning concepts for single tooth to full mouth reconstruction Explanation of the restorative dilemma and it s impact To Assess deficient sites for bone grafting procedures. Understand the concept of true restoratively driven planning Decision tree for choosing screw-retained or cementable. Understand how to diagnose for Sinus Augmentations Understand lateral window and trans-crestal approach for sinus augmentation procedures Advanced surgical techniques for flap design and suturing. How to manage a variety of grafting procedures How to place single and multiple implants when indicated Experience a variety of case presentations Methods of surgical templates / surgical guides for a variety of cases will be discussed. All Participants will: Work on pre-screened patients Work in a cooperative environment of learning Participate in Didactic Sessions each morning Assist on live surgical procedures in the afternoon Perform grafting and implant placement in several surgical sessions. At least one surgery per day Participate in a review of each surgical procedure. All participants MUST bring their own surgical instruments, and loupes if needed. Participants bring their own bone fixation kits, bone tacs, screws. (They may or may not be utilized) Participants may be required to bring bone graft materials / membranes for use during surgery All doctors MUST bring PASSPORTS to enter and leave Mexico each day. Transportation will be provided to and from hotel There is a danger when we are bound by two dimensional concepts... when clearly we live in a three-dimensional world. Scott D. Ganz, DMD 3
