Coordination &Mechanism 1 Decision of The Cabinet regarding the MDG s report The cabinet in the year 2008 entrusted the responsibility of preparation of the MDGR to the Central Informatics & Communications Organization. The cabinet also empowered Central Informatics & Communications Organization by formation of national statistics committee which is responsible for ensuring proper coordination required for the report. 1 Decision of The Cabinet regarding the MDG s report Coordination &Mechanism Legal framework for system development The establishment of the National Statistics Committee was enacted vide Decree No. (4) for the year 2007. The Committee ensures the availability of comprehensive and accurate statistics to meet the national & international needs and requirements by developing comprehensive strategies, plans and an integrated system for collecting, processing and disseminating statistics and national indicators of high quality. This committee has the responsibility of coordination between all government ministries, agencies and authorities as well as private sector institutions in the field of statistics to develop the appropriate mechanisms to strengthen integration and cooperation and facilitate the exchange of information among them. Coordination &Mechanism 2 Committee Tasks The National Committee prepared the National Report on the Millennium Development Goals by forming task committee. Creating framework and timetable for the report. Collecting, reviewing Available Data / Indicators. Making a Preliminary Report based on the Data in hand and Data Needed. Identifying specific data gaps for the final report. Comments of the national committee on the report needs to be got approved before the final report. Submitting regular report by the representatives to their relevant entities on the progress of the committee. Coordination &Mechanism Experts Tasks 3 The MDG National Committee, Used a Team of Experts to help in the Preparation of the Report Identifying data and indicators that the committee would want to be added in the report and provide suggestion and recommendations about projects which have connections with the eight Millennium Development Goals. Planning the format shape and content of the report by the committee. Analysis of the statistical data in cooperation with the Central Informatics & Communications Organization and the relevant ministries/ data suppliers to validate and ensure accuracy and consistency, and compatibility with the indicators of the MDGs. Coordination &Mechanism Experts Tasks 4 The MDG National Committee, Used a Team of Expertsto help in the Preparation of the Report Forming specialized working groups covering all of the MDGs. Ensure the proper functioning of the groups and collective participation of all in the report. Collecting contributions from the specialized working groups and prepare the draft report based on those contributions, with emphasize on unification. The layout of the report including metadata andmethodology and format of presentation for dissemination to be finalize. Discussing the first draft of the report by the National Committee and the experts team. Modifications emerged out of discussions would be incorporated. Bringing out the final form of the report as per schedule and sending it to the National Committee for discussions and plans.
