Introduction This Configuration Guide describes configuration steps for Aruba Instant Access Points to a ShoreTel Connect Onsite System. Special Notes The Aruba IAPs were added to the ShoreTel Connect network and validated with ShoreTel s Connect Client and Wireless SIP Handsets for basic inbound and outbound call placement to ShoreTel IP Phones. Call placement to and from the PSTN were also validated using ShoreTel SIP Trunks. Administrator credentials It is recommended to change the administrator credentials after the initial configuration has been completed. For additional information on changing the administrator credentials, please see the Aruba Instant User Guide, in the section Management Authentication Settings. Configuration This section describes the detailed steps used to configure the Aruba Instant Access Point (IAP) to your network using the Instant UI. The Aruba IAPs can also be provisioned, deployed and managed using Aruba Central (subscription required). Connect To Network This section describes the steps used to power up the Aruba IAP and obtain an IP Address via a DHCP server. 1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the ENET port (located in the back of the Aruba IAP) to a PoE switch port 2. We used a DHCP server on the network to assign an IP Address to the Aruba IAP NOTE: For additional methods used to assign an IP Address to the IAP, please refer to the Aruba Instant User Guide Logging in to the Instant UI This section describes the Instant User Interface used to configure and monitor the Aruba IPA s via a web-based browser. 1. A wireless laptop was used to scan the wireless networks and connect to the instant SSID displayed within the Open Network and Sharing Center 2. Using a web browser on a laptop that is on the same network as the Aruba IPA, enter the following url into the address bar: http://instant.arubanetworks.com 3. Creating a Wireless Network This section describes the steps used to create a wireless network. 1. From the Instant UI window, click on New, located under the Network section 2. The WLAN Settings tab will be displayed ShoreTel. Brilliantly simple business communications. Page 7 of 11
3. Enter a name (SSID) for the network. In our example we used INLAB1, which was used to identify the network. 4. Click on the Next button to continue 5. The VLAN tab setting will be displayed 6. Select the required Client IP assignment and Client VLAN assignment. In our example we did not modify the default values shown 7. Click on the Next button to continue 8. 9. For the parameter Passphrase, enter a unique passphrase, then re-enter the passphrase for the parameter Retype 10. Click the Next button 11. The Access tab settings will be displayed ShoreTel. Brilliantly simple business communications. Page 9 of 11
12. The default setting of Unrestricted was not modified for the Access Rules 13. Click the Finish button 14. This completes the addition of the network. The new network it will be displayed in the Instant UI, under the Network section Conclusion Aruba Instant Access Points were successfully validated and approved with ShoreTel Connect Onsite release.
