The England Hckey Cde f Ethics and Behaviur 1. Intrductin England Hckey s Cde f Ethics and Behaviur is the ethical philsphy under which the sprt perates. It describes the behaviur expected f all within the hckey family in England. England Hckey is respnsible fr setting standards and values t apply thrughut the sprt at every level. England Hckey s Cde f Ethics and Behaviur encapsulates all the sprting, mral and ethical principles that hckey represents. The Cde is intended fr all participants and disciplines within the sprt. Everyne invlved in the sprt shuld prmte equality f access and pprtunity, fairness and respect. All thse invlved within hckey have a respnsibility t act accrding t the highest standards f integrity and t ensure that the reputatin f the sprt is, and remains, high. The purpse f the Cde f Ethics and Behaviur is t: 1. Establish the Cde f Behaviur (expected minimum standards f behaviur and cnduct) fr all peple invlved within the sprt, and 2. Prvide infrmatin n reprting and disciplinary prcedures. Fr the avidance f dubt, this includes all players and anyne wrking within hckey (in a paid r vluntary capacity, and whether as an emplyee r n a self-emplyed r ther wrk basis) including all caches, umpires, referees and ther fficials. Cnflicts and declaratins f interest If yu have several interests, yu are advised t declare such interests when accepting appintments and then t cnduct yurself prfessinally, never allwing such interests t cause a cnflict in the rle in hand. Yung Peple There are many references t yung peple within this dcument and we define yung peple as persns under the age f 18. It is imprtant t recgnise that while sme f the cdes give guidance fr activity that is exclusively fr yung peple, mst senir hckey teams als include yung peple. Suitably Insured England Hckey prvides guidance n suitable insurance fr different individuals and grups as referenced in this dcument. Relatinships: Respect cnfidentiality f participants and any related data at all times. Persnal Standards: Have the participants best interests at heart at all times and recgnise when it is in the participants best interests t be passed t ther rganisatins. Cnduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasnable measures t prtect their wn safety and the safety f thers. Never participate when under the influence f alchl r drugs. Cmpetency: Have an England Hckey qualificatin / award/ accreditatin apprpriate t the nature f the activity and the rle being undertaken. Cmpetency: Have a valid First Aid Emergency Aid Certificate, r ensure that apprpriate first aid prvisin is available. Persnal Standards: Ensure that activities carried ut by participants are suitable fr their age, strength, maturity and the ability f each individual participant. Safety: Ensure the wellbeing and safety f each participant abve all ther cnsideratins, including the develpment f perfrmance. Safety: Fr any facilities used, have a wrking knwledge f: Nrmal Operating Prcedures (NOPs); Emergency Operating Prcedures (EOPs); Facility risk assessments fr hckey. Under 18 year lds: Shuld nly wrk with a suitably qualified and insured adult and refer t the Yung Persns Cde f Cnduct. Prmte the reputatin f the sprt and take all pssible steps t prevent it frm being brught int disrepute. Accept success and failure, victry and defeat, with dignity. Ensure that all participants are aware f their respnsibilities under the Cde f Ethics. Realise their respnsibilities as rle mdels and set psitive examples fr thers, particularly yung participants and spectatrs. Persnal Standards: Prject an image f health, cleanliness and apprpriate appearance fr any activity they are invlved in. Persnal Standards: Never smke whilst participating in any hckey activity. The England Hckey Cde f Ethics and Behaviur Relatinships: Set and uphld the bundaries between a wrking relatinship and friendship between themselves and participants when in a psitin f trust. This is essential when the participant is a yung persn. Relatinships: Never engage in any frm f inapprpriate persnal r sexual relatinship with a participant ( inapprpriate as defined within a psitin f trust within Sexual Offences Act). Prtect thers invlved in the game frm verbal r physical abuse and threatening r intimidating behaviur. Never use inapprpriate language r gestures. Never use ful, sexist, abusive, racist r any prejudicial language r tlerate it frm players and/r team fficials. Abide by the England Hckey Safeguarding and Prtecting Yung Peple in Hckey Plicy and Prcedures and Gd Practice Guidance. Abide by the England Hckey Equity Plicy. In rder t prtect the reputatin f hckey in England, the cde als applies t all thse assciated with England Hckey wh are invlved in hckey whilst utside England. Althugh the emphasis f this cde is n yung peple, this is nt exclusive t yung peple s activity and it is recgnised that parents and spectatrs will als be present at senir games. Expected Minimum Standards f Behaviur and Cnduct All such individuals invlved in hckey will, at all times: Respect the spirit f fair play in hckey. This is mre than playing within the rules. It als incrprates the cncepts f friendship, respect fr thers and always participating with the right spirit. Fcus n the yung peple s effrts and enjyment rather than winning r lsing. Teach yung peple that hnest effrt and teamwrk are as imprtant as victry, s the result f each game is accepted withut undue disappintment. Remember that peple learn best by example. Appreciate gd perfrmances and skilful play by all participants. Encurage peple always t settle disagreements amicably withut resrting t hstility r vilence. Cnduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasnable measures t prtect their wn safety and the safety f thers. Infrm the team cach, manager, captain r, if there is ne, anther member f a management team f any new r changed injury, health r welfare issue which they cnsider is apprpriate fr them t knw. Terms f reference The cntent f this Cde f Cnduct applies t all Medical Practitiners and Allied Health Prfessinals invlved in hckey in England. Clauses in bld are frm the Generic Cde f Cnduct and Behaviur. In rder t prtect the reputatin f hckey in England, the cde als applies t all such individuals assciated with England Hckey wh are invlved in hckey whilst utside England. Expected Minimum Standards f Behaviur and Cnduct All such individuals invlved in hckey will, at all times: Respect the spirit f fair play in hckey. This is mre than playing within the rules.
