Amazing Donors MCYS Fights Cyber Bullying On Thursday, February 4, 2016, MCYS and our collaborative partner Children's Safe Harbor, had the honor of presenting to the employees of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company on the dangers of online predators and cyber bullying. The Confirmation Program Class at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands donated bags full of supplies for the residents at BridgeWay Shelter. The bags contained a collection of new underwear, socks, pants, shorts, shirts, jackets, school supplies, and toiletries of all types. The class also wrote short notes to uplift our BridgeWay residents. We are in constant need of these particular items for kids who were taken from their homes due to serious neglect and abuse. MCYS greatly appreciates this valuable donation. Jamie Parker, our Certified Prevention Specialist, gave an amazing presentation and explained: "Cyber bullying is the hardest topic to talk about because social media didn't exist when I was a teenager, which makes it hard to relate with the students on this specific topic. The effects of cyber bullying can be as extreme as having suicidal thoughts, especially with students who already have a mental health diagnosis. They cannot see past today so my goal is to help them see there is always tomorrow." MCYS, along with our collaborative partners, provide prevention presentations that talk about topics such as substance abuse, cyber bullying, healthy relationships, eating disorders, teen pregnancy and suicide prevention. "The whole point of prevention is to stop something from happening before it starts. If it has already happened, the goal is to try and prevent them from doing it again." - Jamie Parker

MCYS Success Stories A Letter from our Client To: Anthony Goulet "I would like to say thank you for everything that y'all have done for our family. It was a great help with all the food you brought and gift card you brought to us. It was a great joy to be bless today with your help of the Montgomery County Youth Services." -MCYS Client Restoring BridgeWay Shelter On Saturday, February 6, 2016, the Leadership Montgomery County class volunteered at BridgeWay Shelter as part of their restoration project. They demolished one of the bathrooms and worked on the concrete deck prep. After a long day of work, the class cooked some hot dogs and hamburgers and enjoyed the nice weather in the patio. We are deeply grateful to have friends like the LMC class. A Letter From Our C.E.O. Dear Friends: Please make plans to attend our Annual Meeting on March 1st, 2016 from 5:30-7:00 at the South County Community Center. It will be a celebration of our

accomplishments of 2015, our plans for 2016 and an opportunity to congratulate our Bridge Builders for the year. Also, the ladies won't want to miss Ladies Night Out scheduled for April 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. This year's theme is Carnaval and promises to be the best event yet. Proceeds go towards helping us to continue to strengthen families, keep youth in school and help them to be productive citizens. As always, please reach out to us if you would like to volunteer to help or make a donation. If you are a young person or family who is struggling to make it in these tumultuous times, please pick up the phone. We are here for you. Sincerely, John Bracken, MA, LPC Chief Executive Officer CYO Open House Ladies Night Out Kick Off Party Congratulations to Janet Kasper and her team on the Open House and ribbon cutting of the Community Youth Outreach resource center. Members from the three agency's that made this United Way collaborative possible were also present. MCYS, CASA and Angel Reach. On Thursday, February 25, Kendra Scott hosted our Ladies Night Out Kick Off Party where our guests enjoyed a glass of wine while they shopped the new Kendra Scott's spring collection. Kendra Scott donated 20% of all sales from that night to Montgomery County Youth Services. It was such a great turnout! Thank you to all that stopped by, shopped and supported our agency. Don't forget to buy your tickets to Ladies Night Out at youthmc.org
