our lives have been touched by tiny feet Team Captain Guide 14th Annual Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope Saint Charles MO October 17, 2015

Thank you for being a Team Captain for the 14 th Annual Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Frontier Park Raise over $2000 to become a Share Ambassador And receive a Share tote bag! Each year, hundreds of teams, guided by community leaders like you, come together for the Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope. Proving that we are stronger together than apart, these teams are responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support, Inc. and the programs the agency provides such as informational packets, support groups, hospital visits, burial and memorial services and so much more. The inspiring efforts of our Share Walk teams make these free lifechanging services possible for thousands of bereaved families throughout the United States. As a Team Captain, you are a leader in this process. Embrace this opportunity and share your excitement with others as momentum to reach your personal fundraising goal and to build your team with family members, friends, co-workers and neighbors. This Team Captain Guide will provide all the necessary tools to successfully fulfill this role with tips on recruitment, fundraising and engagement. Remember, the National Share staff will be with you every step of the way. From assisting with setting up your Fundraising Campaign to suggesting creative fundraising ideas, we are here to help you reach your goals! Please feel free to contact us anytime. Now let s get started! Phone: 800-821-6819 Web: www.nationalshare.org/walk.html Email: info@nationalsahre.org The mission of Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support, Inc. is to serve those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth or in the first few months of life. Our goal is to provide support toward a positive resolution of grief experienced at the time of, or following the death of a baby; encompassing emotional, physical, spiritual and social healing, as well as sustaining the family unit. Additionally, Share provides information, education and resources on the needs and rights of bereaved families with the objective to aid those in the

Fact Sheet Event Date: Location: Reason to Walk: How it Works: Teams: Saturday, October 17, 2015 Day-of registration opens at 8 a.m. The 3 mile route winds its way through Frontier Park and the Katy Trail beginning at the Jaycee Stage. A short course is also available for your convenience starting at the Jaycee Stage and walking around the Lewis and Clark statue. The Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope is a memorial event that provides families who have experienced the tragic death of a baby an opportunity to openly acknowledge and remember their babies amongst family, friends and other bereaved families and to walk the steps their precious children never got to take. The gathering allows our bereaved parents to find comfort in friendship, strength in shared experiences and hope for healing and happiness. Proceeds from this event allow the organization to continue to support bereaved families at no charge. Participants raise funds for Share by asking friends, family members, coworkers and neighbors to support their personal campaign through donations and event participation. To register or donate visit www.nationalshare.org/walk.html or complete the Registration Form included in this packet and mail to: National Share Office, Attn: 2013 Walk, 402 Jackson Street, Saint Charles, MO 63301 In 2014, over 100 Team participated in social fundraising raising over $25,000 to support Share s programs and services. Our goal for 2015 is to guide 150 Teams to raise $30,000. To have a baby s name listed on the back of each t-shirt and to receive a specific t-shirt size, registration must be completed on or before the Early Registration Deadline of September 1, 2015. T-shirts will be available on a first come basis ONLY to late registrants and must be picked up prior to the event. Merchandise that is not claimed prior to the 2015 Share Walk is deemed forfeited by the registrant and becomes property of Share.

build your team You may be a bereaved parent or you may have watched as a close friend experienced the tragic death of their baby. Maybe you are a bereaved grandparent who has grieved for your own loss of your precious grandbaby and for the pain your child has experienced. Or perhaps you are a caregiver who has spent countless hours at the side of grieving families. Whatever role you play, organizing a Share Walk Team is a great way to create awareness for perinatal bereavement. Thank you for choosing to lead the way! Teams can be made up of 2-200 people, with virtual or present participants. Remember to set a goal and to give yourself achievable deadlines for progress. With every email and phone call, you will show your commitment to Share and the bereaved families we serve.

Getting Started 1 2 3 4 Build your Share Walk Team Page. First things, first before asking people to support you or join you at the Walk, your Team must be created! Go to www.nationalshare.org/walk.html and click Form Your Team. Be sure to include your story about why you are walking, photos from past events or images that are meaningful to you. (Returning Team Captains can restart a past campaign using their login username and password used last year. A step by step tutorial to creating your team can be found just under the Create My 2015 Walk Team link.) Recruit through email. Now that your Team is officially created, you are ready to build your team and collect donations! Highlight your Event Registration Form URL in the body of the email to make it easy for friends and family to join your team. Use the Email This Page button on your campaign home page to encourage your contacts to easily donate today. PLEASE NOTE: When individuals register to participate in the 2013 Share Walk with the intent to be your team member, they must either 1) use your exact EVENT REGISTRATION FORM URL or 2) select the appropriate team name from Credit this event registration to this team or individual: field on the general registration page. Please be diligent in communicating your Team Name as the National Share Office cannot be responsible for automatically linking registrants and donations to each team. Tap into your social networks. The internet is amazing tool that can significantly broaden the impact of your campaign. With one click, we provide you with 350 ways to share or bookmark your story and reasons for being part of the 2015 Share Walk. Message your Facebook friends and ask them for their support, tweet your fundraising goal, or blog about the show of support you hope to receive. Chat it up. Online is not the only way to get people involved. Word of mouth is powerful. Try to broaden your circle don t just stick to asking family and close friends to join your team ask co-workers, neighbors, distance relatives, mailmen, whoever. You never know who will be compelled to support your efforts and the cause.

Fundraising Ideas The feeling of accomplishing your fundraising goal is like none other. Obviously as a Team Captain you have a connection to Share and the services we provide; to keep those services going we rely on fundraising. For some, this could be the most intimidating part of the Team Captain s responsibilities. Well rest easy, here are some tips to help you get through. Set a Team Goal Let your Team Members help come up with the goal and have each member be responsible for achieving a percentage toward the goal. This gives Team members a sense of ownership and ultimately accomplishment when the Team Goal is met. Remember you are all in this together. Take the Lead Be the first to donate to your own campaign. If you don t believe in your own efforts, why should others? Making the lead gift in a campaign will show your dedication to the cause to all those who you ask for support. Get Personal Don t be afraid to share YOUR story. You became involved in Share for a reason and people will want to know what that is when you ask for their donation. Millions of people are affected by pregnancy and infant loss each year. Inevitably, you will come across someone who has needed, or possibly benefited from, Share s services. Personal connections drive giving. So don t miss this opportunity! Community Involvement Organize a bake sale or host car wash. Have a neighbor hood garages sale or raffle off a gift basket. There are lots of ways to get support from those who may not join you Team. Get creative and have fun! Workplace support Does your office have a Dress Down Day that employees pay to participate in? If not, start one and ask your human resource department if the money collected could be converted to a tax deductible donation to your 2015 Share Walk Team. Or see if your company will sponsor your Team with a certain pledge level per mile walked by the Team. Matching gifts are also a great way for business to show their support.

registration Encouraging attendance to the Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope is a vital component to being a Team Captain. We recommend recruiting 8 to 10 Team Members to join you on October 17 at Frontier Park, but there is no limit to the number of participants allowed. Just like with your fundraising efforts, ask friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers to walk with you. The presence of loved ones not only provides comfort to bereaved parents, but it makes the Share Walk a true community event. Managing your Team Member Registration is simple! Once you have your Team Page created, just forward the Event Registration Form URL to your group of contacts. When people register using this specific URL, their registration will be automatically linked to your Team Campaign. You will also be able to see a complete list of all those who have joined your team under the Event Registration on your Details page. (See below.) Your URL Your Team Members Registration opens July 1, 2015. To guarantee receipt of a Share Walk T-shirt in a specific size and to have a baby s name listed on the back of each t-shirt, registration must be completed by the Early Registration Deadline of September 1, 2015. It is important to note that donations DO NOT equal registrations and donors will not receive a commemorative t-shirt. These t-shirts are not sold and cannot be obtained any other way than through Share Walk Registration. If you have friends and family who want to support your team and want the event t-shirt, make sure they register! The dollars received by Share through registrations are contributed to your campaign goal and are equally as important as outright cash gifts.
