LT07-115: Diabetes prevention in Chennai, India (Project ended April 2012) A translation randomized trial of culturally specific lifestyle intervention for diabetes prevention in India using community leaders for recruitment Screening of 19.252 adults Identification of 1,253 high-risk individuals 620 participants (intervention and control group) 18 intervention groups, each received 16 lifestyle sessions

LT07-115: Diabetes prevention in Chennai, India (Project ended April 2012) Changes in clinical and metabolic outcomes between 0 and 6 months were significantly greater in intervention group (p<0.0001 for all outcomes). 8 presentations worldwide, 5 articles in national newspapers Additional findings in progress

ST07-025: Prevention of diabetes in People at high risk in a medium size City in Vietnam (Project ended July 2014) Evaluate measures that motivate people at risk to do screening and evaluate lifestyle intervention in people at risk using local health centers & employees Recruited and trained 20 prevention agents Collected 9,550 diabetes risk questionnaires Performed 2,550 IGT and IFG Educated group: after 6 mos, 27.5% lost 5% b.w. Team has been assigned by the Ministry of Health to implement the project in the whole country
