36 th Annual Advanced Ultrasound Seminar: Ob/Gyn Earn up to 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (accepted by the ARDMS) or ARRT Category A Credits. Course Description An intense 3-day conference will be presented to illustrate the latest principles and techniques in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. The topics will be presented by leaders in the field of diagnostic ultrasound. Commercial exhibits will display state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, supplies, and educational materials. Course Objectives At the conclusion of this CME activity, participants should be better able to: n Apply current issues and concerns in the use of clinical and technical ultrasound; n Compare and relate ultrasound knowledge and skills with peers; and n Practice the latest instrumentation and techniques in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. Target Audience This course is designed to meet the needs of physicians, sonographers, and other health care providers who use obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. This activity addresses the following learner attributes: n Patient care and procedural skills; n Medical knowledge; and n Practice-based learning and improvement. This course is designed to change competence and performance. 6 Questions? Call the AIUM at 800-638-5352 or 301-498-4100

Preconference Workshops (Optional) Wednesday, February 13, 2013 Physics Refresher and Update: Imaging and Doppler Principles 8:00 a m 12:00 pm Earn up to 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. This refresher and update is presented by Frederick W. Kremkau, PhD, professor and director of the Program for Medical Utrasound at Wake Forest School of Medicine, past president of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), and author of Diagnostic Ultrasound Principles and Instruments, now in its eighth edition. This workshop covers the major topics involved in how modern ultrasound imaging and Doppler ultrasound work. Recent technological advances are included. The course serves 3 purposes: 1. It provides an introduction for participants who are new to the field; 2. It provides a review and update of recent technological advances for practicing physicians, sonographers, and other health professionals; and 3. It provides a brief review for participants preparing for the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to: n Explain how ultrasound interacts with tissue, how transducers work, and how sonographic and Doppler instruments produce displays from echoes; n Discuss how these principles apply to clinical practice; and n Recognize common artifacts. AIUM Accreditation Workshop 1:00 pm 4:00 pm Earn up to 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Learn about AIUM standards for examination protocols, personnel, quality assurance, record keeping, safety, and physical facilities. Attend the workshop, presented by Paula Woletz, MPH, RDMS, RDCS, AIUM director of accreditation and clinical affairs, to find out the answers to these questions: n Does your ultrasound practice meet nationally accepted standards? n What is the AIUM accreditation process? n What does the accreditation application contain? n What impact will accreditation have on your practice? n Do insurance companies require accreditation? Questions? Call the AIUM at 800-638-5352 or 301-498-4100
