1 Report of observation of vigilance awareness week from 30.10.2017 to 4.11.2017 at ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar. The vigilance awareness week was observed from 30.10.2017 to 4.11.2017 at ICAR Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar. In the inaugural function of the vigilance awareness week on 30.10.2017, Dr. S.K. Ambast, Director, ICAR-IIWM administered the pledges to all the staff members of the institute. Vigilance officer of ICAR-IIWM, Dr. S. Roy Chowdhury narrated the list of activities to be undertaken during vigilance observance week. Mr.S.K. Singh, Administrative Officer, ICAR-IIWM, coordinated the programme. An WhatsApp based social network was created mainly to sensitize staff members of ICAR- IIWM, for taking e-pledge and posting them in the WhatsApp social network. An elocution competition was organized among staff members of the institute on that day. The staff members of different cadres of the institute took part in the competition. In second day, on 31.10.2017, as was delivered a seminar lecture by Dr. S. Roy Chowdhury, Vigilance Officer, ICAR-IIWM, at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar amid Director and staff members of ICAR-CIWA. In the lecture common points to be taken care through preventive vigilance to remove chances of corruption in procurement procedures was also discussed. On 1.11.2017, a debate competition was organized involving students of class XI and XII of seven different schools around Bhubaneswar. The topic of the lecture was Corruption free India: can it be a reality. On 2.11.2017, Awareness Gram Sabha was organized at Madana, Garadpur gram panchayat at Kendrapara district in Odisha. Dr. S. Roy Chowdhury, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer, Dr. A.K. Nayak, Senior Scientist in Computer Application and Shri S.K. Singh, Administrative Officer, ICAR-IIWM participated in this Awareness Gram Sabha. In the sabha, deliberations by senior participants on awareness against corruption followed by discussion. The participants were explained about different vigilance monitoring mechanisms in order to check corruption at every sphere of life. Shri Singh explained various redressal systems available making the participants aware about their rights in different ongoing government sponsored schemes. Dr. Nayak explained the participants about methods of taking e-pledge using internet and mobile connections. Through demonstration, two e-pledges were taken in the meeting for those who had their Aadhaar card

2 with them and Certificate of commitment were obtained accordingly. In total thirty three participants attended the Awareness Gram Sabha including ward members and farmers. The banner was also displayed in this occasion. On fifth day of the Vigilance Awareness Week, i.e. on 3.11.2017, one seminar lecture was organized. Based on the main focus of this year s vigilance awareness week, My Vision: corruption free India the theme of the lecture was Vigilance mechanisms for removing corruption and was delivered by Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Principal Scientist & Vigilance Officer, of ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar. The main objective of the lecture was to make stake holders aware about different existing vigilance mechanisms and how to implement them with preventive vigilance as major intent. Thereafter prizes were distributed to successful participants of both elocution competition among staff members as well as from the debate competition among school students. On concluding day i.e. on 4.11.2017, a human chain formation was organized at campus of ICAR-IIWM, where along with Director, ICAR-IIWM, the staff members and others present in the campus participated in human chain formation. At the beginning, the staff members were appraised about main objective of human chain formation by expressing their solidarity for eradicating corruption from our society. All participating members further reiterated their commitment for making our country corruption free through their activities as well as inspiring others. In the valedictory function of the vigilance awareness week on 4.11.2017, Director, ICAR-IIWM, Dr. S.K. Ambast, addressed the gathering. In his speech, he emphasized importance of observance of prudence while spending public money. The valedictory function ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. S. Roy Chowdhury, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar.
