How do I prepare myself? There are some things that you need to consider doing before taking on a juice and cleansing feast. I have listed some basic steps to follow: 1. Get yourself mentally prepared. Make sure that you spend this time as harmonized as possible. Spend some time going inward, to see if there is anything that is stressing your emotions in any way. If so, let it go. Forgiveness is your friend, and anger is not. This is a topic that could be a large factor in your healing journey, so make sure you read my book Know the Truth and Get Healthy for simple exercises and inspiration. 2. Schedule this week in your calendar. Keep things as simple as you can. If you have yoga or other gentle movement routines, great. If you do more vigorous exercise, feel into your energy level. Do not push yourself. Clear the calendar as much as you can during off work hours, so that this time can be about you. Get a new beautiful Journal ready! You deserve it! 3. As you prepare yourself mentally and emotionally, also prepare your body. Eat light the two days prior to this Detox Program. The lighter you eat, the easier it will be on your body to adapt to the liquid diet. What is light for you, depends on your current diet. If you are a vegan, eat more raw, less fat and more fruits. If you are a meat and dairy eater, eat a vegan diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. The key is to eat what is easiest to digest, and not mucus forming or acid forming. That leaves fresh fruits and vegetables, fruits 1
being the easiest to digest. Drink plenty of fresh clean water, and stay away from coffee, alcohol and soda beverages. Indulge in some nice herbal teas. 4. Make sure that you are eliminating, that you are moving your bowels. This is very important. When the body starts to cleanse out the toxins, we want to make sure that they are eliminated. If you have an enema bag, you can use that, if not, you can get some herbal tea. Make sure it is caffeine free if you do. If you can get a colonic, go for it. Do what suits you best to get as clean and moving as possible. The GI Broom is magnificent as an aid when cleansing the whole GI track. You can get it here: 5. Take some time to clean out your refrigerator. Make space for some fresh vegetables. Fruits are stored in room temperature, so you will need counter space and something beautiful to store it in. Find out where to get the best produce in your area. Organic is very important, so do your very best to get chemical free food! What do I need to get started? This is the great part, You do not need much equipment at all. Make sure you have these things ready and available: A Juicer. Any type will be fine for this purpose. A blender. We will on day 4 and 5 include some blended drinks. Any type of blender will be fine A cutting-board. There will be a lot of cutting. A good cutting-knife. I like using a chef`s knife, but any knife you prefer is ok. Gift yourself some shiny glass containers for storing the juices. I use a 1 liter/32oz glass jar with a tight lid. You can also get bottles. Make sure they are air tight. They should hold at least ½ liter/16oz. We cannot improve nature, and when we try, we suffer. By eating what we were designed to eat, we can find our way back to our natural heathy state. - Hilde Larsen 2
One must eat to live, not live to eat. - Moliere When we learn to eat properly we begin to rebuild our bodies and to fulfill our purpose on this planet to grow in health, creativity, wisdom, and compassion. ~ Dr. Ann Wigmore Time to go shopping! Below I have made s hopping list so that you can be ready for the juicing on day one. It is hard to be 100% accurate on amounts for all the juices and blended drinks. Different juicers will extract differently and produce vary in size and shape. Here is the variety of fruits and vegetables you will be needing, and some indication on amounts. This way you will have a head start. Staple vegetables, need larger amounts: Celery: At least 3 whole ribs. Cucumbers: At least 15. Carrots: At least 5 bunches. Green apples: At least 15. Ginger: Get several large roots. Lemons: At least 10. Also get some: Available leafy greens/ spinach and fresh parsley. See what you can get where you are. Cilantro: Fresh Turmeric: Fresh if you can, if not, organic powder. Beets. 3
Broccoli. Fennel. Red peppers. Oranges. Grapefruits. Tomatoes. Pineapple. Grapes: With seeds. For the blended drinks on day 4-5 you will need some mangos, bananas, kiwis and berries of choice. If it suits you better, you can go shopping every day, as you will have a juicing and blending plan provided each day, for your convenience. When taking the time to do a cleanse, why not make it into a celebration of YOU! Get a massage. Take a bath with relaxing oils. Practice skin brushing. Do a sauna session. Light candles. Read a good book. When we do not eat up to our potential, we will know it. I know it, and you know it. Food is supposed to be fuel, and not a burden. Most of what we eat today in the Western world is actually a burden to the human body. Every time we eat something that is outside of our natural diet, it becomes a burden. 4
I remember heavy dinners as well as you do. You know, when you just wanted to lie down afterwards, completely drained of energy. Food is supposed to be fuel, not drain your energy. This only shows that the body has a hard time with what it has been fed. There is no way we can eat what is not good for us and not know it on one level or another. The problem is that we are surrounded with so much toxic waste that our pineal gland is clouded. Because of this, it is hard for us to see truth. When we detoxify our bodies, this changes. We regain our awareness and our natural instincts. We need to let go of the burdens, to give our body the break that it needs. When we want something to change, we need to change something, and when in any way off balance, look to nature, always. 5
