Held in nearly 100 communities, the event raises awareness and funds lifesaving programs that educates and support patients, their families and those at risk. The Kidney Walk is a launching pad that your marketing team can use to design a program that achieves your company s marketing objectives. All sponsorships can be customized to your company s specific marketing needs. The Philadelphia Kidney Walk welcomes over 4,000 participants annually. These teams have tremendous power to help NKF, but also to grow camaraderie among your employees and encourage teamwork within your corporation. Teamwork: Whether you have five or 5,000 employees, participation in the Kidney Walk is a great way to build team spirit and a sense of camaraderie among employees. It demonstrates that your company wants to play an important role in supporting worthy, charitable causes. Employees are proud to work for these types of companies. Low Cost to Company: Funds are raised through individual donations gathered by team members from coworkers and their families, friends and neighbors. Public and Community Relations: Participating in the Kidney Walk sends a strong signal that you and your employees care about the health and welfare of your community. In short, it s good public and community relations. Family-Friendly: The Kidney Walk draws people together in a healthy activity for a worthy cause. It s an event that you and all your team members (and their families) can be a part of. There are activities and prize opportunities for all ages. Partnership Opportunities Kidney Pin-Ups At-A-Glance Does your company have a retail space, break room, cafeteria, or even an empty bulletin board? Selling Kidney Pin-ups provides a great opportunity to show your community that you care by raising awareness and money for the fight against kidney disease $1, or $5 at a time! How it works Employees will sell Kidney Walk pin-ups for a $1.00 or $5.00 donation. Customers who purchase them (at the register) can write their names or the name of the honored hero for whom they are donating. Sold pin-ups can be displayed in windows, walls, or anywhere they will be highly visible. Each participating company will receive a kit containing everything they need to successfully hold the pin-up campaign. They are encouraged to work with their local NKF staff partner to schedule an internal kick-off to explain the program and inform their employees about the NKF and the Kidney Walk. Make an In-Kind Donation In keeping with the NKF s promotion of health and wellness, we are hoping to provide food of healthy and nutritious value for our participants. Although we would graciously appreciate a donation to accommodate our expected attendance, we would be truly grateful for any donation of food, gift certificates, raffle prizes, or water. Partnership Opportunities Your Donation Dollars At Work The National Kidney Foundation meets the comprehensive standards of America s most experienced charity evaluator, the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. More than 80 cents of every dollar donated directly supports programs and services like these: NKF Cares NKF Cares is our toll-free phone and email patient help line. Trained professionals provide information, support and resources to people affected by CKD (patients, family members) on a wide variety of topics. Peers Lending Support Peers Lending Support is our free, national telephone-based support program that connects those experiencing CKD (Stage 4, dialysis patients, and transplant recipients) with an NKF-trained mentor who has been through a similar experience. Your Kidneys and You Your Kidneys and You is a volunteer-led presentation on kidneys, risk factors and preventative action steps, with a focus on where to turn for more information. Volunteers are trained by NKF local offices to deliver this presentation to the general public, corporate audiences and at-risk populations. KEEP Healthy KEEP Healthy is a community-based educational initiative. Participants receive a brief health survey, blood pressure and BMI measurements, educational information and clinician consultation. Participants receive a copy of their results, are encouraged to discuss them with their healthcare provider and directed to contact the NKF for more information. Educational Programs and Resources The NKF delivers patient and professional programs and resources in print, online, through multi-media and in meetings. This includes our Kidney Living magazine for dialysis patients, Living Well DVD series, smartphone applications, the Your Treatment Your Choice program, CME/CE programs, Spring Clinical meetings, professional journals, and a vast library of printed publications on a number of different topics. CKD Primary Care Physicians Initiative The NKF s CKD Primary Care Physician s Initiative is a 5-year demonstration project that will drive the adoption of clinical practice guidelines aimed at improving kidney health related outcomes into the primary care workflow, develop CKD metrics including HEDIS performance measures and ICD-10-CM codes for billing, and develop models that demonstrate a clinical and economic return on investment for interventions related to early identification and management of CKD for insurance companies, employers, doctors and patients.
