South Bay Worksite Wellness Health Coaching Report

Health Coaching Program Introduction Project Details Services were delivered to employees who are Kaiser Permanente members. Telephonic outreach was completed for each screening participant whose biometric screening results were out of the recommended range. For eligible participants who met the criteria for readiness and commitment level for in-person wellness coaching, South Bay Worksite Wellness staff scheduled a coaching appointment with a SBWW health educator. Wellness coaching series consisted of up to 4 sessions. Initial coaching session consisted of thirty minutes to review lifestyle and risks, assess readiness, & create action plan with subsequent sessions lasting twenty minutes each.

It put my health first and it reminded me I'm in control. The location & times were very convenient, as I was able to attend during the day.

I am also trying to eat smaller portions. I have lost 15 pounds and I hope to have improved some of my health numbers.

Health Coaching Program Summary Key Health Coaching Program Findings 105 employees were enrolled in the 2013 Health Coaching Program which translates into 15% of the eligible population. This is greater than the industry average of about 5% opting into health coaching. 60% of participants completed all 4 sessions The majority of the cohort of participants who received coaching in both 2012 and 2013 had improved screening results across all biometric measures when compared year to year. In general, a population see their biometric measures worsen over time rather than improve or stay the same.

Health Coaching Program Summary Key Survey Findings 78% of survey respondent rated the benefit of health coaching to be high or excellent and 20% rated it of moderate benefit 92% of survey respondents stated that they have maintained their lifestyle changes made during health coaching sessions 100% of respondents rated their confidence level in making further lifestyle changes as a result of this program as moderate to excellent
